Norah Jones is Playing Along wrote:
The National
Matt Berninger and Bryce Dessner of The National join Norah by the fireplace to talk about and play songs from their amazing new album, The First Two Pages of Frankenstein. They fill her in on what it was like to come together as a band while living in far away places, the inspiration for the album, and writers block. Matt's warm baritone inspires Norah to ask for a duet on the first-ever acoustic performance of a decade-old song. Recorded 4/29/23.

The newest Cherry Tree vinyl shipped today. Outside chance it arrives at my house tomorrow, but it’ll be Monday at the latest.

Oohh excitin'

Bryce mentions putting together a live album on the podcast noting how different the songs are in the studio and live, this may not be possible at their stage but if they pull together a tour of smaller venues... oh boy.
Listened to Frankenstein yet again over the weekend and it is still tremendous to me.

edit: Really enjoy listening to Bryce talk about music. Also Norah Jones subtly telling Matt to save his voice.

edit2: Around 49:change they discuss not singing to the back of the room... LISTEN MATT!

I was trying to wait until Monday to be surprised by the package, but I gave into temptation and checked on Reddit.

The new fan club vinyl is:

Spoiler: show
The Woodstock, NY show from earlier this year with FTPOF in full.

Enjoy!
Spoiler: show
The Woodstock, NY show from earlier this year with 90.9% of FTPOF played.

I've had this show downloaded for so long, just tremendous:

Full set

If they play BAM, I will be there.

Saw them last night and it was great. I think my favorite part of the show was the middle of the set where they played Baby We’ll Be Fine, Cherry Tree (so good), and Wasp Nest.

We'll get on a plane this afternoon to fly to Houston to see them again tomorrow night. We actually bought tickets for Houston before they added Tulsa. We’ve not gone to see a show in Tulsa on a week night in a long time. It’s about a 90min drive one way.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Man, I wish I still went to shows.

I got the Laugh Track LP a few days early but haven’t listened to it yet, I’ll try to give it a spin today. Even though the digital came out like 2 months ago, I still have only listened to the first two singles.

i'm still bewildered by them releasing the song laugh track as a single presumably for no other reason than it's the album title and has phoebe bridgers on it. the song is one of the weakest on both albums.

I feel they like working with artists of other mediums so the support for the 'video' was paramount:

The National wrote:
Directed and animated by Bernard Derriman (@bernard.derriman)
3D Laugh Track animation by Adam Phillips (@chluaid)
Special thanks refused by Jon Schroeder

They've hit a pretty solid level of stardom so helping anyone out might be playing a heavy hand.

I’m in Houston for the show tonight. Looks like they’ve been playing Space Invader; I definitely want that one. Would love Cherry Tree or Available or some other oldies. Here’s to hoping!
