Dev gets it.

The biography sat on shelf 1/2 read for the past two months. I picked it up yesterday and now I'm in the "Jason is being a drunk asshole and getting less and less creatively productive" chapters and it's fucking depressing.

Does anything match up to Magnolia Electric Company?

I was listening to this the other day and I was like, "God damnit, Jason...god damnit."

I just love this video because it's just Jason talking for a while. WTF are all of those people doing talking over him?

Today is the 9-year anniversary of the only MECo show I ever attempted, so the feelings are coming up.

I was at this show, the (I think) last stop on the tour supporting the "Magnolia Electric Co." album:
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/magnolia ... 052fa.html

Apparently no one remembers what they played, presumably because the set was all new material at the time (with the exception of a slowed down version of "Riding With the Ghost"). Very Neil Young move. Good show, but you could tell they were tired and ready to go home. I also remember the stage wasn't elevated, and since I'm pretty tall and Jason's pretty short, I spent more of the show watching his bald spot than I'd initially intended.

Closest show that Archive.org has is from two weeks before that: https://archive.org/details/meco2004-10-01.flac16

That's probably pretty close, but it was a shorter set than that and I'm confident they didn't do "Steve Albini's Blues" or anything else from MEC besides "Ghost." They definitely closed with "Mama Don't Let Your Babies.."

When I saw them they played:

Arrow in a Gale
Little Sad Eyes
Hard to Love a Man
Whip Poor Will
Down The Wrong Road Both Ways
Josephine
Rock of Ages
Shenandoah
London Bridge
Talk to Me Devil, Again
Leave the City
Rider.Shadow.Wolf
Trouble In Mind
John Henry Split My Heart

Encore:
I've Been Riding With the Ghost
The Handing Down

I did, but to be honest I haven't listened yet. Did pre-order though. When I saw the news I just dove into Journey On and listened to some of my favorite tracks from there.

For me, no. What Comes After the Blues and Didn't It Rain come closest I guess. Aside from those and MEC he's more of a song artist to me, vs. albums. I have a hard time with the slow, plodding stuff, and there's a lot of that.
