Knopfler is one of my all-time favorite musicians, and while I like Dire Straits, I find his solo work to be smarter, funnier, more emotional, and more musical in every way. He can fall into holding patterns and I certainly wouldn't seek him out for "groove," but he's a great songwriter and a tasteful guitarist with an ear for nuance. Favorite albums are "The Ragpicker's Dream" and "Kill to Get Crimson."

I think I have finally arrived at the fact that, save for a handful of tracks, I don't really like Spiritualized
