Hmm, I kinda dig this. Reminds me of early Beck, maybe a little Cake. Not what I was expecting at all. I think I had them confused for Soul Asylum!

They were on of my favorite bands when they debuted. I listened to the Deluxe cassette quite often.

I don't think The Strokes have any bad albums. Even the ones that reviewed poorly or are widely considered to be on the weaker side are perfectly fine to my ears. Maybe they don't take enough risks to disappoint.

I agree with this but also I don’t feel like listening a whole album from them. It’s more a song or two from time to time.

Rick Rubin, huh. I'm sure it'll sound okay. He seems like more of a group therapist than producer extraordinaire these days, though. "I wanted the band to feel comfortable, to be the best version of themselves, so that the songs would flow organically..."
