I am usually quite partial to singers that sing with a bit of their own local accent, perhaps as I'm so used to strong Australian accents, I dunno. But dudes like Billy Bragg, Scott Hutchinson from Frightened Rabbit, Colin Hay, Alex Turner, King Krule, The Streets, Jermaine and Bret from FotC and any number of 'Strine accented singers (Courtney Barnett et all) tend to really appeal to me. But that absolutely stops when I get to the current crop of South London (? I think) hip hoppers like Little Simz and (shudder) fucking Stormzy.

I just can't handle that shit. Worse than BJEEERK imo in that "nails on the chalkboard" reaction from me. The radio station is guaranteed to change within seconds of one of their songs coming on.

I must just really dislike the accent I guess, which I find curious.

yeah she was! she also felt very in command of the stage. She was super happy and sweet but also calm and professional.

Rosalía is on another level. The show is fucking incredible and she sings and dances so fucking good. Really she might be the best live show out there.

Do they have a full band? A lot of pop artists seem to be going all out on their backing bands these days. Dua Lipa, for example. Her rhythm section is super solid. Makes a big difference for me.

Rosalia was mind-blowing when I saw her last year. Insane vocal chops, and extremely emotive, not just showing off

I think there are a lot of parallels between Billie and Rosalia as artists. Definitely some of the most interesting and idiosyncratic acts in the mainstream pop sphere right now, and both extremely talented. Big fan. I missed them at Lollapalooza Argentina this year but I've seen them both before

Rosalía plays piano when needed. She is very good. Then is mostly an already recorded music, but prepared for the show and the visuals she is doing, which is a very important piece of her show.

Billie had a drummer and her brother, who plays guitar and keyboards and also plays background taped music too. She has some backing voice sometimes too, but her voice is still shockingly good.

I get your point and yes, i also prefer a backing live band..for example Kali Uchis´s show would have been better with a full band...but in this two cases i didnt needed no, they were out of this world good anyway.

I wouldn’t recognize one Ed Sheeran song other than the one he sang when he ruined that Game of Thrones episode.

I remember when "Thinking Out Loud" came out thinking it was a nice enough, bland little soul throwback. "Maybe he'll make something good someday." I had no idea his career would turn out like this

I respect any musician who is able to use looping proficiently in a live setting. His songs are kinda ass though.

I’m pretty sure I saw him at Global Citizens the year Pearl Jam played…I feel like he can be one of a number of pop stars who picked up an acoustic guitar in college to get laid and has songs to match that muse. If it was, he used a looping machine - no Keller Williams but it was sorta neat. The songs weren’t anything though.

Instant flashbacks to so many college dorm rooms adorned in DMB posters

I had to sit through his set back when he opened for Taylor Swift in 2013 when I was still dating my future wife and therefore willing to do things like go to Taylor swift concerts with her. He sucked.
