The Who is Daniel Johns? (Silverchair) pod is unbelievably corny so far. I've no doubt his late teens were difficult, but at one point while talking about the pressures of fame he starts hyperventilating/coughing. The interviewer asks if he needs a drink of water and Daniel replies "it's not that... ... it's not that". All very dramatic. Seems sus/self-absorbed in a Billy Corgan kind of way -- which is funny because Billy was interviewed for the series.
I heard that he has zero Silverchair memoraboolabia in his house. He's kinda turned his back on the whole thing. Can't quite understand that tbh.

I listened to the first episode of this.
He's definitely a self-important oddball, probably fitting for a guy who is independently wealthy and has lived in a protected bubble since he was essentially a child.
He makes Corgan seem humble and well-adjusted by comparison.

This thread got me thinking about how there are parts of the music industry you'd assume pay much more than they do. I used to know a guy who worked as a touring musician for a mid-level pop act playing to 5000 people a night and he'd get about $50 a show (plus a small per diem for food)
Oh yeah absolutely. I've known more than one person in the same position and the average seems to be around $100 per show with a tiny food buyout, and a lame parting gift when the tour is over. The norm, not the exception.
