Being a diehard Pumpkins fan during the Zeitgeist>Oceania>Monuments years was tough going, but the work Billy and co. put into their deluxe/reissues has more than made up for it. The Aeroplane Flies High deluxe on Spotify, for example, is 6 and a half hours long! Then there's the outstanding Pisces Iscariot and Adore deluxe releases. Just so much previously unheard, top-tier Pumpkins. I'm like a pig in shit.
I really liked Oceania, something about it just clicked. The Aeroplane Flies High is a pretty amazing set. That there's a 35 minute version of Silverfuck available to stream is just ridiculous. Waiting on Machina deluxe reissue to dive into that era.

I considered making a "albums you should have heard by now" or "albums you're just now hearing" thread for this, but meh.
Anyway, in the year of our board, 2020, I gave Bandwagonesque a spin for the first time and am wondering what took me so long. This checks a lot of boxes for me. Instant classic album opener? Check. Creation Records? Check. Shoegazey guitars? check. Catchy melody? Check. British but not too british? Check. 90's alternative that sounds a little like Sonic Youth, Pavement and Flaming Lips? Check. Holds up after decades of critical scrutiny? Check.
I will be listening to this again in the near future.

Zeitgeist is a favorite for me. Then a few singles from that era, specially live version from Teargarden. The studio version sounds like shit. Oceania is a tough one. Kinda liked it when it came out but i pretty much hate it now. Monuments its the opposite.

I was talking to my friend’s 15-year-old kid the other day about music/bands, and asked him what was the first album he ever bought. He said he’s never bought an album. Holy.

Honestly I only had a vague idea of what they sounded like -- I always get them confused with other bands of that "landfill indie" sound -- but Ezra Koenig just appeared on the U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head podcast and he was such an unbearably boring, utterly uninteresting guest that I had to give them a listen to see if their music was as bland as him. The three songs I sampled were just awful

I have one last Grateful Dead show I am listening to before I come back to earth. When I do, I am starting with the Dirty Knobs album. I have only heard the Wreckless Abandon single and really liked it so I am looking forward to what Mike Campbell has to offer.

I had never heard of this band. I like it a lot on first listen. It reminds me more of Travelling Wilburys than Heartbreakers which came as a surprise. The rockers remind me a bit of early Izzy Stradlin, where the band locks in a groove and the song is built all around that groove.

Saw them live and it was fantastic. Close your eyes and you'd actually think you were listening to Tom Petty. ITs amazing how mike campbell and Tom Petty sound so very similar.
Anyway, was a great show. Everything you'd expect from Campbell.

Heard the album. It reminds me of stumbling into a bar and just locking into a groove with the band on stage, only I am not drunk and they are way better than whatever other band that was. This was much better than even my expectations .
