The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Also, i believe, you have to take the doors in context with what else was going on at the time.
What do you mean?
Flower child music, hippie hand holding summer of love shit. The doors kind of came in and through black paint all over it. Was a little darker for the time.

Heard a tatu song on the radio and remembered sorta liking them. Downloaded their albums and was reading the wiki articles and wow looking on that stuff from 2017, it's was insane how sexualized they were.

They were also very young, IIRC; in hindsight, it was pretty creepy how they were instructed by their management to pose as lesbians to titillate male audiences. Some of their songs were super hooky though.

Creepy's the word, yeah. Especially reading the parts about how this song was about something but when they translated it into English they added the more sexual overtones. Left me feeling pretty skeevy.
I just wonder how much of that being forced on them has affected them since.

I remember thinking this and having conversations about this back in the day, when they were first starting to get traction.

i'm sure the creation of the persona is no different than what a lot of pop stars do now... they just didn't have an established career beforehand. unless we're talking about PRAMG Ed Vedder

Exactly. The creation of the Chris Gaines persona was like post-Bowie/pre-Gaga.

yeah, in hindsight, i have a better appreciation for what he was trying to do. it wasn't executed well, and unfortunately unlike a Bowie or Gaga, he didn't have the core audience that appreciated that sort of idea, but I get it (as silly as it seemed)
