Just listened to the record in full again and it's gonna sound ridiculous but after Angel Dust, this is my next favorite. Can't find a song to skip except maybe Superhero and that's only because I've heard it in single format for a few months!
"I wanna strip your bones off!" Phwoar.
I would say its a great comeback album, and its 100% fmm.

opinion might change but I get the impression this sucks.
Yea, it lacks grunge!
No, it lacks musicianship. It's just noisy. I love King For a Day, Album of the Year, and Angel Dust more than any grunge. Faith No More was a great band. But this is a typical comeback record by a bunch of 40-50 year olds. I do think Roddy's contributions are nice though.

I only heard Spirit for the first time in the last few months (with patton on vocals) and I thought it was one of the new songs. Anyway that song is superior to anything on the new record.

It's a corker of a record!! It's better than KFAD and TRT imo. Just shaded by AD ! I'll go as far as saying that it's a monster! Nothing is wasted here, not even a minute. And most comeback albums sound drab, dull and uninspiring but can't say that about this record!

Early impressions: I'd put this in okay-to-good territory. It's not significantly better than, nor does it even sound particularly different from, Tomahawk's Oddfellows, which is pretty disappointing. I think Dev has a point about the music - to me, this feels like a lot of mostly unremarkable music that Patton is trying his hardest to elevate through his commendably passionate vocals (but even those are marred by Patton's usually bad lyrics). I mean, imagine listening to this album without any vocals. Would any of the music be memorable?
I think the best tracks are "Superhero" and "Separation Anxiety", which bring some needed urgency and ferocity. I can't believe they don't push the piano and keyboard harder, since that was always a huge part of what made FNM's sound so distinct. The only song that sounds uniquely FNM to me is "Superhero", and it's almost entirely for that reason. The rest sounds like pretty typical Patton rock.
We'll see how it goes as I give it further listens. It's not bad or anything, it just seems kind of limp.
