Just pre-ordered "Atomic" -- only mid-June till they start shipping!

(The two advance tracks are fantastic, though -- I'm pretty excited about this one.)

Just seconding KD, here, as I just got done checking out those new songs. I've never really had much interest in Mogwai's soundtrack work, but this might change that. Seriously mulling a pre-order, because those two pieces are quite good and show that there's bound to be some diversity on the album.

Brett -- I would highly recommend checking out the "Les Revenants" album -- I prefer it to both "Hardcore..." and "Rave Tapes."

+1

Great f'ing album

"Hungry Face" has been my morning phone alarm for about a year now.

Meaning I've become clinically depressed and am loving every second of it.

I listened to it once on Spotify a while back, but yeah I probably should make time for it again along with Zidane.

Oh, and back to Atomic for a second, but has any good reason been given why the US release of the album is 2.5 months after the UK release (April 1 in UK, June 17 in US)?

My copy of "Atomic" finally showed up after I'd all but forgotten about it. It's an absolutely wonderful album, full of color and emotion and purpose. Their best since "The Hawk is Howling," in my opinion.

This band is great, first off, but secondly, I am still uncertain how to properly pronounce their band name! Anyone know???

Yes this arrived at my door last Friday. So pumped. You get the color version?

I think the mogs are touring in the winter. They're playing DC on Jan 28th.

Looking forward to seeing what the new lineup brings. also want to hear some of the atomic songs live.

That's what they're doing, actually: a North American jaunt for the Atomic soundtrack. They're playing the songs live, and then screening the film, it appears.

The soundtrack? Yeah, I liked it well enough. More so than Mogwai's other soundtrack work, though it's presented differently, more like a regular album simply inspired by the film. I think it took some of Rave Tapes best aspects and built from them, creating a more interesting experience than that album's half-hearted waffling with established Mogwai tropes.
