Another one of my all time favorites. But it never seems to get any love. They rarely play it live and none of the other big fans that I know seem to care for it. I love the thing.
meloy was opening some of the shows a couple years ago with it; i was at one of them
The Tain came up on shuffle the other day. I like it.
the tain is maybe the best thing ever
Yep.
And at least I've seen that one live. Twice. Three times if you count the time I saw them do it at that soundcheck that I want supposed to see. But that maybe doesn't count because they didn't soundcheck all the parts.
The first two Decemberists records are some of my favorite music ever. For the first few years of their career they were a big deal band for my friends and me, one of those groups we would listen to obsessively and make it a point to see multiple times per year. I like the later stuff too but not as much.
KEVIN DAVIS!!
What's going on, man? New Mynabirds record yet?
So. Close. In the meantime though I've become completely obsessed and consumed by Annie Clark.

sailing dirge song
ol clip sure dislikes this band
i really don't know anything about them other than listening to that one song once or twice upon your recommendation years ago. I think you noted back then that it wasn't a typical example of their stuff though. what's clip hate about them? not enough like social distortion or the tragically hip?

But more importantly, how have you been? How's the book coming along, KD?
Pretty slow, man. It has been difficult finding time to write, or really do anything that requires quiet and focus, around the house. Once Henry is a few months older and is on a more predictable sleep schedule I am hoping to get back on track. Otherwise, though, things are great.
It's been a big week for my borough. First Laura Burhenn is hanging out in my hood and now Colin Meloy is playing new Decemberists songs in front of a hand painted banner. Man, I LOVE Brooklyn, but I fucking hate being at work.
