This show makes my head explode. Actually, the entire January-February 1997 tour makes my head explode. I still need to write an essay sometime about how much I love this tour. Here's my favorite show of that leg: -------------------------- Link: https://archive.org/details/tsp1997-01-19.ANA2.flac16

Hard to argue with that set list.
The show is even better. They nail every single song and Billy is on fire. Too bad the quality of the show is only average, a B at best. This is one of those shows where you overlook the quality because the show is so damn good.
The previous night is incredible too:
---------------------------------- THE SMASHING PUMPKINS Date: January 18, 1997 Venue: Assembly Hall Location: Bloomington, IN
Source: CSB>HSJ445
Cd 1: 01. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (over PA) 02. The Aeroplane Flies High 03. Jellybelly 04. Rhinoceros 05. Tonight, Tonight 06. Zero 07. Fuck You 08. Porcelina of the Vast Oceans 09. Rocket 10. Thirty-three 11. Bullet With Butterfly Wings XX Muzzle XX Disarm XX Thru the Eyes Of Ruby
encore 1: 12. By Starlight 13. Siva
Cd 2: encore 2: 01. X.Y.U.
encore 3: 02. Silverfuck/(Space Jam)/(Bury Me)
It's too bad that recording sucks and is incomplete. All these shows are just freaking amazing.

Is it just me, or is it odd how any hint of a song is listed in online Pumpkins setlists as a tease more than for other bands? Why is this?
No clue. It could just be the way the online community of that band organizes their setlists; some setlist people like to list every tease, no matter how small.
During this tour the Billy and James were screwing around a lot with different songs during their set. Take this show, from the same tour:
THE SMASHING PUMPKINS January 26, 1997 War Memorial Stadium Rochester, NY, USA
Source: Sony ECM-727P > Sony WM-D6C Lineage: ANA-M > Sony TC-WE825S > Tascam DA-20MKii(A>D @ 44.1kHz) > Delta Dio Taped by: Greg? M Transferred by: Andrew Fogelsong Keywords: the smashing pumpkins; billy corgan
Disc 1 1. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (over PA) 2. Tonight, Tonight 3. Cherub Rock 4. Where Boys Fear to Tread 5. Rhinoceros 6. Love (abandoned) (twice) > Smells Like Teen Spirit [Nirvana] (tease) 7. Here Is No Why 8. Zero 9. Fuck You 10. Porcelina > Rocket (tease) 11. 1979 12. Thirty-three 13. Bullet With Butterfly Wings 14. Farewell and Goodnight (one verse and one chorus) 15. Muzzle
Note: D'arcy freaked out about a speaker high above the stage and refused to come back out for the final encore. They finally coaxed her back out but scratched "Silverfuck" from the set, closing with "The Aeroplane Flies High" instead.
THE SMASHING PUMPKINS February 2, 1997 (check for other copies) Jacksonville Coliseum Jacksonville, FL, USA

La Dolly Vita (tease) > Thirty-Three 11. Today 12. Bullet with Butterfly Wings > Swallowed [Bush] (tease)
Disc 2 1. Muzzle 2. Disarm 3. Thru the Eyes of Ruby 4. Lovefool [Cardigans] (tease) / picking the dancers 5. 1979 6. Obscured (tease) > Tristessa (tease) > Slunk (tease) > Landslide [Nicks] (tease) > Quiet (tease) > Mouths of Babes (tease) > Rotten Apples (tease) > To Forgive (tease) 7. To Forgive (played because the crowd went crazy when they teased the song during the "tease" medley) 8. X.Y.U. 9. Drown > Hummer (tease) 10. Siva 11. The Aeroplane Flies High (cuts out after 15 seconds) XX. Silverfuck (said to be over 40 minutes long, and probably the longest version the band ever played)

I really love the song Drown. Can anyone recommend other SP songs similar in vibe to this tune?
Maybe Soma or Mayonaise?

Mayonnaise is probably closest. It's a pretty great song.

Oh man, I hate when I can't disagree with stip!
Mayonaise is fantastic.
Thanks fellas.

This is an admirable timeline, but it leaves out my favorite era: the couple of years or so immediately following Zwan. Jesus obsession, blog rants about God and fame, wild accusations towards David Pajo and Paz Lenchantin ("promiscuous drug addicts!"). Man. Wonder if that blog is archived somewhere.

I love that Zwan record. I haven't listened to it in far too long.
It's the best SP album since Machina...
The Aeroplane>Silverfuck combo back then was usually the final encore, where they just come back and jam for 45 minutes. When I saw them in Dec. 96, they did this even after the house lights came on and 1/3 of the crowd left. I was almost out the door.
Billy Corgan Releasing Experimental LP AEGEA in Coming Weeks for $60 By Evan Minsker on April 9, 2014 at 12:35 a.m.
The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan has been hosting ambient/experimental performances at his suburban Chicago tea shop Madame ZuZu's. Today, Corgan has announced that in the next six to eight weeks, he'll release AEGEA. It's a private press experimental record that will set you back $59.95 (not including shipping).
The album consists of experimental recordings Corgan made in 2007. He writes:
“As a work, AEGEA is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with. Listening back I quite like how AEGEA goes along, as it has qualities that are both meditative and alien; but not alienating.”
The first pressing comes in an edition of 250, each hand-numbered and annotated by Corgan. If you want to skip shipping costs, you can also buy the record at Madame ZuZu's while supplies last.
