may not be that great, but the way they're sang and the background repeats really hit me One day I’m going to leave this city And you can follow me Find the places without city lights Wherever that be You tell me we’re living half asleep Loving in and out of a dream If our past is the cloth Our future’s the seam Am I reaching you? We’re growing so very fast Are you reaching me? With everyone as their own broadcast One day you’re going to leave this shell and Wander in and out of the day A ghost of forgotten guilt and forgotten pain It’s what the lonely say You tell me we’re living the life of the meek Buying into clouds of steam If our ego’s the cloth Our folly’s the seam |

I can't remember if these have been posted in this thread before, but the song just came on and so I wanted to post them: [iI]I was riding on my mother's hip she was shorter than the corn all the years I took from her just by being born[/i] Just breaks my heart in half every single time. Just perfect. |

I hate your mom. I hate it when she opens her mouth. It's amazing to me how much you can say when you don't know what you're talking about. |

Yesterday we lost our lives, tomorrow we were born Fortune smiled upon us, sacrifice the Argus All that he might help us see Magna eyes the track for miles, looking for disease Puzzled by the mountains - tricked by the sea And the Argus is practiced compassion With an eye on you, as one is on me Will the god eye grant his forgiveness And allow he that's lived, a reason to see Counting days and building walls, bells ring so's to warn All the signs that guide us, chosen by the Argus Tell me has chosen you Led by form we'll shed our soul Trusting like a child See the dark face that saved us Drink from his empty eyes And the Argus is practiced compassion With an eye on you, as one is on me Will the god eye grant his forgiveness Letting droplets of light erupt from the sea... Lying in beds of garlic and orchids, he closes an eye, which closes another And in sleep he dreams, of watching and looking and feather clouds dancing He curls up his lid and sleeps... Swirling with visions on man's confusion All of the work, done just to appease him The Argus he cries, though love has it's place in the sun It's only man's fear that carries him on... |

man oh man i miss the constantines The sun was coming up Soldiers of light storming my brain Day, have I the guts to greet you? Alarm clock tomorrow, cradle to the grave Working full-time Vigilant people In the cult of enterprise Lean into the day With all your heart and mind We were not made to fear the morning Put down, put under and put on We are not what we once were We will be all undone Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time We won't be undersold We won't be undersold We won't be undersold We won't be undersold I'll find my wealth all about me Shake the hand that rakes the common temper It's your kindness that gives life to my mind I want to wake up every morning full of wonder Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time Working full-time |

Studio versions almost always have more impact for me. And the studio version of this one works all the way for me. |

if im feeling down or defeated this song wipes that feeling away Here's to the babies in a brand new world Here's to the beauty of the stars Here's to the travellers on the open road Here's to the dreamers in the bars Here's to the teachers in the crowded rooms Here's to the workers in the fields Here's to the preachers of the sacred words Here's to the drivers at the wheel Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above Now let the day begin Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above Now let the day begin, let the day begin Here's to the winners of the human race Here's to the losers in the game Here's to the soldiers of the bitter war Here's to the wall that bears their names Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above Now let the day begin Here's to you my little loves with blessings… Here's to the doctors and their healing work Here's to the loved ones in their care Here's to the strangers on the streets tonight Here's to the lonely everywhere Here's to the wisdom from the mouths of babes Here's to the lions in the cage Here's to the struggles of the silent war Here's to the closing of the age. Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above Now let the day begin Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above Let the day begin Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above Let the day begin Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above Now let the day begin, let the day begin, let the day start |

But then something I saw In your eyes told me right away That you were gonna have to be mine When the strangest feeling came over me Down inside, no matter what it takes I'll never get over how good it felt When you finally held me I will never regret Baby, those few hours Will grow in my head Forever |

The road is long With many a winding turn That leads us to who knows where Who knows where But I'm strong Strong enough to carry him He ain't heavy, he's my brother So on we go His welfare is of my concern No burden is he to bear We'll get there For I know He would not encumber me He ain't heavy, he's my brother If I'm laden at all I'm laden with sadness That everyone's heart Isn't filled with the gladness Of love for one another It's a long, long road From which there is no return While we're on the way to there Why not share And the load Doesn't weigh me down at all He ain't heavy he's my brother He's my brother He ain't heavy, he's my brother, he ain't heavy |

There were 87 Advil in the bottle now there's 30 left I ate 47 so what happened to the other 10? Why do you suspiciously change the subject and break my concentration As I dump the bottle out and I count the Advil up again? Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thought Have some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself |

I'm not together and you know it's true My bits all wander in the trees And if I ever seem a little strange Would you excuse me please? I said I'm human but you know I lie I'm only visiting this shore I'll soon be leaving in the outbound ride I pray again we will meet I'm wasting your time, just talking to you Maybe best you go on home I'll leave you alone, fade from your mind Slip into the greens and blues Pixies - Greens and Blues I fucking love Frank Black's lyrics. |

He cursed like a billiard player, His walking stick upon the ground, Looks a lot like an old man should be, Shakes a lot like an old man should. Off and on he's been here, Probably twenty years, Off and on he's been here, Guess he'll never go home. I guess it's the comfortable chair, And company, you can't buy company, It's a frame of mind, It's people who've been through what you've been through. And a cigar, A good cigar now and again. Had his heart broken, By a little girl, she was small. Had his heart broken, By a little girl, she was small. Had his heart broken, You would never expect a thing. When he was a young man, It was like an event. He promised her anything, He never had to deliver. He promised her everything, Ask yourself if you could do better, He promised her everything, She caught on. A lot of people say she's crazy, But i know, i know a lot of people, And i think, i think she's alright! He cursed like a billiard player, His walking stick upon the ground, And she would ask him, She was young and she didn't know, Why things were like this, If anyone could know the way, He lied to her, He lied to her, With a perfectly straight face. She believed him. Steve Albini wrote: This is a song of nostalgia, memory and loss. The male character is reflecting on his life, and part of that is the way his mistreatment of the female character must have scarred her and how easy it was for him to slip into the mode of deception. The centrepiece of the song is improvised both musically and lyrically, and often devolves into scenes where a marginalized female character retains dignity under duress. This section always concludes with the cue, ‘A lot of people say she’s crazy, but I know a lot of people and I think she’s alright.’ |

Take my advice Don't listen to me It ain't paradise But it used to be There was a time When the river was wide And the water came running down To the rising tide But the wooden ships Were just a hippie dream Just a hippie dream. Don't bat an eye Don't waste a word Don't mention nothin' That could go unheard 'Cause the tie-dye sails Are the screamin' sheets And the dusty trail Leads to blood in the streets And the wooden ships Are a hippie dream Capsized in excess If you know what I mean. |
