I would say yes, but all the Elliott Smith-fronted songs on that album are pretty great and could have fit in quite nicely on the self-titled album or even Either/Or.

yeah, when elliott "rocks", it's usually not his best... i was just watching him at a festival with his band and it's really hit and miss.. the guy doing the backing vocals, 'oohs and ahhs' really shouldn't do that and elliott's songs just don't really fit this format.. a lot of the intricacies get drowned out and elliott's voice is much better suited to be quieter, i think

You're probably right. But Elliott Smith is one of those guys I can never quite bring myself to be critical of. I'm inclined to say that Saint Elliott can do no wrong and I'm not that into Heatmiser because it has a second frontman, haha

I hear ya man... He always seems to be honest and genuine, and it's hard to be critical of that... but just listen to this.. you'd think if he were in a better place in his life he'd have worked out the kinks in this live rock act.. but even still, I don't think his songs or voice are suited for this format most of the time.. don't get me wrong, some moments are really awesome.. the drummer is good and it's fun to see him do the guitar solos and it's neat seeing his early quiet stuff translated into full band rock songs
