Few things....
1. Love that Ryan Adams played an oldie last night on his last Letterman performance. 2. Love the guitar player's Big Star shirt. 3. LOVE that Ryan gets a little emotional at the end. Playing New York, New York on Letterman kinda launched his solo career. He's a big Letterman fan.

EV is usually in top notch form for tv performances, so i except nothing less. dmb played letterman last week and played the first song they ever played on letterman, 'what would you say'. i wouldnt be surprised if ed plays 'black' w/ paul schaffer's band backing him up since thats what he did on his first appearance on letterman.

I think Hail Hail was PJ first Letterman appearance. The Black performance was really dumb, imo. It was just Ed walking out when Paul & CBS Orchestra began playing it. It's like Ed jumped into character outta nowhere and just turned on his emotions like a switch. I think they only played a snippet, too, and then he just waved and left the stage.
