Fair enough - I can certainly imagine Kurt finding the riff "raunchy", it has a slinky vibe (for want of better terminology). What are the other two untitled tracks from that era? It's difficult keeping track of what's what anymore.
Has anyone created a definitive "non-album" set, like the Radiohead compilation in another thread here?
Stuff like the "Lounge Act" out-take embedded in the box set dvd, the "Drain You" rehearsal from the LTSO dvd, "Horrified" from Dutch radio etc? I remember ripping various bits and pieces over the years but they're all scattered on various cdr's in my garage somewhere. Would be nice to have a uniformed set with matching artwork etc. Something like the Outcesticide series, I guess.
Actually, was the "Drain You" rehearsal in the re-issue box? Can't even remember anymore if it was a different take or not. Things are further complicated by the record company "remixing" certain tracks, and of course all of the Nevermind re-issue and WTLO being brickwalled to hell.
I made a set that collects all of the stray tracks from before and right after Kurt died - afterwards, everything is pretty much focused as a set except for the few stray things you mentioned, which probably wouldn't fill up a whole disc.
The "Drain You" outtake is a 4-track demo by Kurt, Dave & Dale. It is on WTLO with the "retards" intro trimmed off.

Is that the 2CD "Original B-Sides & Rarities" comp by JWB? If so, cheers! Just downloaded.

I've been collecting Nirvana on and off over the years, but I'm mainly a collector/fanboy for an Irish band called Therapy? and my plan is to compile similar definitive comps. Well, tbh, I've already compiled them (and revised multiple times, as I'm sure you'll understand!) but am looking to create decent artwork in order to "release" them to the Therapy? community (yes, there is one!). Any recommendations for decent cd artwork programs?

Yup. Only the alternate In Utero mixes are no longer relevant (better sound on the deluxe).
I've played this set as much over the last few years as I played the original albums in '90's, and it sits proudly alongside them on my shelf. Not to be missed.

A search of my HD found the entire '87 rehearsal. Forgot I had it!
Link to the first ever UK interview with the band. Sounds magazine, 1988, written by John Robb of The Membranes. He also saw the band in Haboken, NJ, the following year at this show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d626Z8paS7Y&t=325s

Thanks! I've been listening to my own mix of these tracks for many years but this is nice since it includes the live tracks. And somehow only two versions of "Been a Son".

Wait, no "Gallons of Rubbing Alchohol Flow Through the Strip"? That's one of the weirdest Nirvana songs ever, and one of my favorite. It's completely nonsensical, but has some of Kurt's best and most unique guitar work.

- It's a hidden track like Endless Nameless. - It's available in a perfect mastering now as part of the regular "In Utero". - It takes up a lot of space.

The Albini mixes of "Heart-Shaped Box" and "All Apologies" are both on the In Utero reissue. "Gallons" was actually kind of hard to find for many years. I bought a copy of In Utero in Japan that had it but stateside it was not easy to track down for many years. I think it's more worthy of being on a b-side mix than alternate versions of two of their most famous songs.

But it's the same story with "Endless Nameless", which was excluded from various pressings and technically a rairity. With the release of the deluxe edition, it is a permenent part of the album proper as it should be.

Was Endless Nameless excluded from some versions? My CD copy that I got from Columbia House had it.
