In Utero 30th anniversary packages are up for pre-order. New remaster by notable audiophile / Electric Audio stalwart / Shellac and former Mission of Burma member Bob Weston, plus the five previously released b-sides (one the single LP package they’re on a 10”). Deluxe package includes two complete shows, plus a handful of other selected live performances.

I’m on the fence. I’ve already got the Back In Black that had Albini’s original mixes of HSB and All Apologies, plus the RSD Albini remix. I don’t need this in my life, but I’d like to have the single LP with Weston’s new master. My ideal scenario is the 10” winds up on the secondary market or maybe as a lone RSD release.

I’ll pass unless I find it used down the road or the price drops dramatically at some point. Really no need for me, I can’t tell the differences between these mixes, and I’m ok having just the digital or streaming versions of the 5 b-sides

I Hate Myself is my hands-down favorite Nirvana song so it’s exclusion from my vinyl collection is a constant thorn in my side

I got that one for pretty cheap back in the day ($25 bucks?) so I’m glad I have it for at least the b-sides.

Just put a random record on your turntable, but run your phone to your speaker. Turn the turntable on so it’s spinning while simultaneously playing the digital copy of the song on your phone and suspend all disbelief.

At the risk of being a gigantic nerd, the 20th anniversary edition only had new/alternative Albini mixes of the b-sides, whereas it seems as though the new reissue will have the original 1993 Albini mixes.

I don't really see a point in another anniversary box of this album, the 20th anniversary box was perfectly fine. Plus you can find both those "unreleased" live shows on Youtube, shout out the channel AltCopperpot5 for uploading tons of sick live shows from the 90's.

Why? It was remastered by Albini and it sounds great.
