The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
The Super Deluxe reissue of Nevermind features 8 LPs, 5 CDs, the 7", and a Blu-ray featuring Live in Amsterdam, Netherlands, a newly remastered video of a November 25, 1991 concert at Paradiso. Other concert videos available with the 30th anniversary reissues are Live in Del Mar, California (December 28, 1991), Live in Melbourne, Australia for Triple J (February 1, 1991), and Live in Tokyo (February 19, 1992).
Ugh. Another typically lazy release from the Nirvana camp. I guess they couldn't be bothered to unearth anything that hasn't been bootlegged to death in perfect quality already.
That Melbourne performance is horrible. I'm amazed that they would release anything from that show let alone the entire thing.
I wonder if the remix or even remastered those live shows... My guess is they didn't

If I've got the last reissue of Nevermind, do I need this one?
What you need is the original CD, which is near perfect, and probably costs $1 used.
The 20th anniversary remaster was complete garbage and they took a lot of shit for it.
Precedent would suggest that this one will be garbage too, unless they've learned their lesson.

They've completely remixed all of the live material used on these releases so far, so it's possible that they at least remixed Del Mar and Melbourne because those were multi-tracked. I think the other two are probably live-to-stereo and not remixable. But who knows.
Regardless, the afore-mentioned remixes were crap and inferior to the old mixes, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Were the Nirvana masters part of that fire?

Something was reportedly destroyed in the fire, but they are tight-lipped about what. Krist has flip-flopped on the subject more than once, so who the fuck knows.
I haven't been following the matter, but last I heard, some shitbag judge sided with Universal, so we'll probably never know.
It probably doesn't matter anyway because they've released almost everything that was recorded, and what wasn't released circulates in perfect quality thanks to whoever liberated the "With The Lights Out" reference tapes and mixes.
It would be far more of a tragedy if it was a band that had a vast archive of unreleased material and any interest in properly releasing it.
