Was at the Quasi/Jon Spencer show last night in Milwaukee (in which Quasi doubled as Jon Spencers backing band)
fuck have I missed Janet on the drums. Quasis set, albeit shorter since they were the opening band (and, playing 2 sets) was SO INTENSE! The new songs were really good, cant wait for the new album thats coming at some point.
Anyone who loves Janet as a drummer really needs to see her live with Quasi. For as much as I love Sleater-Kinney, shes so much better drumming with Sam / Quasi.

I thought about going to the show at Schubas but I wasn't super impressed with the new stuff with Spencer and apparently the bands are mask nazis

Yeah, I was not, impressed with Spencers set. Janet actually took a few of her cymbals down after Quasi's set as she didnt need them. . . she still rocked out on a few songs. The new stuff from Quasi sounded fucking awesome though she was KILLING IT. I've always liked SK more as a band / more of their songs than Quasi. . . however, Janet live with Quasi really cuts loose. I think Sam pushes that out of her. Especially when its just the two of them (no bass player). As for mask nazi's, we didnt have to have masks on / or show proof of vaccine. The band/stage crew had them on before / between the sets but thats about all i saw.
