Corin was really rocking out with the tambourines last night. She took the second verse of Rockin'. Sounded great. Lots of jumping around & general fun being had by all.

Yeah, I wouldnt say NEVER, but Mary is off with a new 3 piece band, and, the first album just kinda got thrown together after Carrie had wrote a few things.
But Carrie did say she was in the studio last year working on stuff, so that gives more hope to SK!

Sadly, Wild Flag, despite acclaim for their eponymous debut, are no more: “It was great but I think it just kinda ran its course," Weiss tells us. "It’s hard to have a band when you live five hours apart by plane.”
Like I always say, "Anyone who thinks getting kicked in the nuts by one person sucks has never gotten kicked in the nuts by two people at the same time."

Carrie Brownstein - "And as if that weren’t enough multitasking mastery, she’s about three quarters of the way through writing a new album—one she won’t say much about except that she’s working with people she’s worked with before, which is enough to make a Sleater-Kinney fan’s heart skip a beat. In her free time, she’s working on rewrites of a memoir."

From Spin.com about a possible SK reunion:
Carrie: " But in all seriousness, we've talked about it more. We'll see what happens."
I kinda get the feeling they got together / tried some things... some things might be there, but not enough to be there as an album... come back and try again later... Carrie said she was in the studio at one point, but nothings come of that. So I really get the feeling theyre working... but taking their time to do it right.

I don't think they should try and follow The Woods. Tour if you want, but you're not going to top that album so don't bother trying.
Yeah, while I agree in principle with your sentiment - that The Woods can't be surpassed - I don't think that should stop them from making new music together.
My ongoing Portlandia-obsession has inspired me to finally check out Sleater-Kinney in detail. They never really had much of a profile here in Oz, and I was always put off seeking them out by Corin's encore performances with PJ back in 2003 .
I'm going to work through all the albums in order. Up to Call The Doctor and absolutely loving it - reminds me of what I loved about early Jebediah (late 90's Perth band for non-Aussies).
Must say I'm excited to read that many people think their albums got progressively better.

I feel fortunate to have seen them twice here in Brisbane. An amazing rock n roll band.

It's funny - I don't like that show at all, but a lot of the reason is that it hits a little too close to home for me to find it humorous.
I think some of the beauty of that show, is that the humor hits close to home to anyone who lives in an area with a large population but, not really a "big city" per say.
Carries on the Late Night? tonight (Which Fred is the band leader of) which ever one comes after Leno

I guess The Woods is the prize at the end
Been listening to 'Dig Me Up' on repeat the last few days - easily the best album so far.
One More Hour is just fantastic and so unique - are there any other songs in the history of music that feature the two people the song is about singing together about their break-up?
