Sleater-Kinney live at the Big Day Out, 2006
This week, we’re celebrating the 15th anniversary of Sleater-Kinney’s monumental seventh record The Woods.
It was band’s first major label release, and brought you classics like ‘The Fox’, ‘Wilderness’, ‘Jumpers’ and ‘Modern Girl, all of which aged finely into some of Sleater-Kinney's most enduring songs.
Shortly afterwards the band embarked on a world tour, including a stint on support duties for Pearl Jam, before eventually jumping aboard the line-up for the 2006 Big Day Out.
Join us as we dive into in the hot and dusty mosh-pit of the Sydney leg, as Sleater-Kinney rip through songs from The Woods, plus a few of their classics.

While clearing some boxes from our move (in 2019!) I found a used Cadallaca CD I completely forgot existed. Corin Tucker on vocals, Calvin Johnson production credits. I remember going through a phase where I'd blindly purchase anything K Records related, which has paid off in dividends ever since. Man, it sounds great on the CD deck of the old Nissan Versa I drive to work most days. Total lo-fi late 90's college radio sound. Kind of feel like I found a hidden gem today.
From a Village Voice review that also includes Air, New Radicals, RZA, and Cherry Poppin' Daddies reviews...if that gives you an idea of context.

CADALLACA: Introducing Cadallaca (K) There's a Cadallaca interview in which Corin Tucker confuses the Ronettes with the Shirelles, and even if it was a "put-on," as young people say, that's all you need know about how much this side project has to do with classic girl groups and the rest of that rot. It's just a song sluice for an irrepressible talent--somewhat gentler and less conflict-purging, with Sarah Dougher's organ replacing Carrie Brownstein's guitar. The one noir period piece is the one misstep; elsewhere they imagine 1942 and dis a booker and invent new romance tropes the way they would in any other band. I love Brownstein. But Tucker could end up eclipsing Polly Jean Harvey herself if that was the way she thought about the world. And one of her strengths is that it isn't. A

That's certainly surprising, although in retrospect I wonder if we'll be seeing a lot of surprise releases from bands and artists who decided to make a record while being stuck inside their homes for a year. Good song, also.

Can't say I love the new song after one listen, but I can definitely hear the strains of their original sound in there, so that's a plus. I think I'm just not a big SK fan anymore, regardless of who's producing or sitting behind the drums.

really liked this first single. its not a big punk or rock explosive number, but its cool.
Who is the drummer?
I'd assume its the girl who toured with them (but thats a total assumption) Quasi has been posting stuff from the studio too, so, they should have something out too soon for the Janet lovers.
Worry With You definitely sounds like something from this new era. This song reminds me so much of The Dog / The Body.
