More Wolfgang Muthspiel, from his new album on ECM, "Where the River Goes." Featuring Ambrose Akinmusire, Brad Mehldau, Larry Grenadier -- this lineup is basically the Wu-Tang Clan of modern jazz. A beautiful, atmospheric record.

i gotta be honest here...i really don't like new orleans style jazz...just wanted to let you all know
i don't like a large majority of it, to be honest. it can get hokey REAL fast. there are definitely certain artists i gravitate to though. i tend to either love the old, original solo artists .. or just blowing it out marching band style in a second line. and don't like a lot of the stuff in between unless i'm in the city.
a lot of it is like reggae to me ... i really dislike reggae outside of a sunny, ocean environment. but there, it just works for me. kind of the same for a lot of new orleans jazz.

Blue Mitchell's Step Lightly is the perfect Sunday afternoon album:
Also, for some reason I've been thinking about Miles' friendship with Bill Cosby lately (Bill was e.g. Miles' bestman when Miles married Cicely Tyson), and what Miles wrote in his autobiography. Besides writing how women deserve to be beaten every once in a while, Miles also wrote that between 1975 and 1980 when he didn't pick up his horn at all, and was addicted to pills and drank a lot, he also had sex with "all the women I could get into my house.". All that just gets a whole new meaning now after what we know about Cosby. I mean it might be a little far-fetched, but I wouldn't be suprised if Miles at least knew what Bill was doing.
