The new mix “is just a taste of more things to come in 2021 as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of my father’s legendary album,” says Dhani Harrison. “We’ve been digging through mountains of tapes, and they just kept coming – boxes and boxes of them. Making this album sound clearer was always one of my dad’s greatest wishes and it was something we were working on together right up until he passed. But with the help of new technology and the work of (audio engineer) Paul Hicks on this project, we are now able to make that happen. We can’t wait for you all to hear everything we’ve been working on and your patience will be rewarded next year.”

Peloton did a series of exercise classes in a collection peloton x Beatles on Christmas Day. I have done the 45 minute run and the 45 minute ride so far. It’s pretty entertaining and keeps you moving.

Aren't we gonna talk about this? Yesterday I heard it, and my friends, let me tell you, I can finally say that a chapter of my life has been closed. The Spector wall of sound is demolished and gone is the reverb, you can hear Georgie's voice upfront, so pristine, so fragile, so beautiful, and appreciate all the instruments talking to each other. Is a whole new experience. Im so fuckin happy.

I think it sucks. Much of the Spector reverb is NOT gone because they couldn't remove it, and the "dry" vocals don't blend with the music at all and stick out like a turd in a punchbowl. The EQ is modern iTunes style and mastering heavily brickwalled. Back to the original for me.

I had a brief listen on Spotify and felt the same way.
The original mix is clearly better.
I hate to be a crabby pants, but the amount of hype and praise and hyperbole these modern remixes always get is ridiculous, even on audiophile forums where people now suddenly seem entirely allergic to negative reviews. If you criticise one of those cheap and tacky "Giles Martin" Beatles remixes, people act like you kicked their dog and shit on their pancakes. Good taste and sense have gone out the window in favor of "shiny new object" syndrome.
