Amazing sound and performance. My only "gripe" is they'd yet to add "Idioteque" to their setlists at this point.... I guess there'd be plenty performances of the song to come, however!

Berlin is good but it's an intimate warm-up show and has the calm atmosphere of a BBC concert.

The best show from that year is Nijmegen.

I should get a better sound system for listening to music so Warrington 2000 and Gorge 2001 sound okay to me. However, if you are doing this Kid A/Amnesiac Live project and think they are somewhat inferior sources, I'll take your word for it.

Can you use Berlin 2000 if it's too intimate? What about Canal (official?) or Jools Holland?

As you can probably guess, I'm eagerly awaiting this one!

Warrington sounds fine, but it suffers from broadcast artifacts and shortcomings. The other broadcasts from this era are closer in quality to an official release. Gorge has good sound quality but it's a lousy mix, which is always the case with a straight IEM capture. It needs to be supplemented with an audience recording and even that doesn't fix some of the problems. People have since started making multiple recordings of different IEM feeds and blending them together later to achieve better mixes.

I did use Berlin, and Canal and Jools were officially released on the old deluxe sets.

IEM feeds are not regular soundboards.

They are what used to be called "monitor mixes".

You are only hearing what that particular band member needed to hear.

In the case of Gorge, it was someone who needed very little guitar and a lot of drums, especially the hi-hat.

Fine for regular listening, but it doesn't work alongside the other stuff.

Thanks for the info. Seriously interesting stuff.
Sounds like you've made some progress here. Nice! I should share one of my mixes and have you critique (if interested). I'm sure it's rather rough to trained ears.

You're about to be served, so sit tight.

The best example of a multiple IEM feed would be Berkeley 2017. Do you have those 2 shows? They more or less sound like regular soundboard recordings.

Are there stems available for each instrument/musician?

No, but different mixes that can be extracted and remixed/combined in various ways. Some guy was driving around with a van full of equipment to capture and remix Radiohead IEM feeds. There is a guy who does Rolling Stones shows too.

For example, if you've got an IEM feed that has everything centered but guitars in the left and right, you can remove the center channel and then you've got the two guitar stems. And they can be used to supplement another, more complex IEM feed that has weak guitars. Just one example.

I’m mostly surprised that monitor feeds even get out into the world

They use wireless systems now, so you can use a scanner to locate and steal the feed.

Ahh… Makes perfect sense but never considered this. Are there IEMs for Pearl Jam floating around?

Gorge 2001 is definitely an IEM, I'm willing to bet Jonny's feed.

I think the Mansfield 2003 "Pre-FM" is really an IEM feed as well.

There are also Santa Barbara 2001 and Mountain View 2003 which were matrixed with audience recordings.

Berkeley 2017 was the first mix made from multiple IEM feeds.

I don't think so because there would be no reason to make one. Before 2000, people were sometimes able to steal soundboard feeds from ALD devices in the venue, but those usually suck worse than IEM's. Those have all been matrixed with audience tapes in the "SV" series.

Oh yes. Love those two recordings.
What are we listening two with those two 2016 Lollapalooza shows (Chicago and Berlin, I believe)? I listen to those two quite a bit.

WCT has done some incredible work on this one, from adding ambience to the raw soundboard tracks, to fixing glitches and channel reversals.
Crank the volume and strap yourself in for a very smooth and satisfying listen :nice:

KID A MNESIAC LIVE

Compiled, matrixed & mastered by Wendy Carlos's Twin
Artwork by ridleybradout
October 2021

FAN-MADE PROJECT - NOT FOR SALE

*Share freely but do not distribute as mp3*

This is a live soundboard compilation of songs from Kid A and Amnesiac, taken from the 2000 and 2001 tours.
The songs are sourced from broadcasts, internal promos and individual tracks that Thom gifted to a fan on CDR.
The songs provided by Thom are raw soundboard feeds, so these have been matrixed with audience recordings to
match the ambience of the rest of the songs. The intent was to create a continuous listening experience,
though the transitions are not always perfect. Regardless, we are very happy with the results. Two additional
cover songs (originally by Can and Neil Young, respectively) have been added to the end of the program, which
is just under 80 minutes total. This compilation is meant to supplement the welcome but somewhat bereft
"Kid A Mnesiac" anniversary release.

02 Morning Bell (Dublin)
03 I Might Be Wrong (Jersey City #2)

What an amazing thing to wake up to (in BC, Canada). Thank you very much!
Downloading now. Will be listening to in a few minutes. I'm more excited about this than the official reissue!

(A friendly reminder that OK Computer will be celebrating its 25th anniversary next May ;-) )

Awesome Thanks.

Don't really have much to offer in return but here is a Pablo Honey era Thom interview scan http://selectmagazinescans.monkeon.co.uk/?p=119
