When The Levee Breaks is probably an all-time Top 5 song of mine. Not necessarily bc it's a top 5 song I've ever heard, but bc of the personal attachments I have to it. When I was a kid in mississippi, one of my best friends lived in Louisiana, and every time I visited we'd hang out by the levees. As we got older, I'd visit and we'd drink beers on the levee, get drunk, flash our dicks at the barges going by, throw the frisbee and make diving catches into the lake, talk about girls, talk about life, listen to music on our boom box. When Katrina hit and the levees broke, his childhood home where his mom lived was wiped out. I went down and tried to help his family and neighbors as much as possible. The destruction and horror was incredible, but the love was immeasurable. One night we sat in a boat and listened to Zepp 4 and drank beer. When this song hit, he broke down, and I broke down when I saw it. The song hits hard, but it's therapeutic. Every time I hear it, I think of my friends, and how far they've come in the last decade.

Well, the plagiarism there kinda knocks it down a few pegs for me.

It's by far quintessential Zep. Blues based but far enough away that people that say they don't like the blues can't even realize what it is. And just oozing with groove.
The highlight of my trip to the R&RHOF years ago was the drum kit Bonham used to record the fourth album. I was less than a foot from the drums used for Levee.

I honestly forgot about it. I did my list off the top of my head and Stairway didn't occur to me.
Yeah, Stairway is definitely better than a couple of the songs on my list. I should amend.

I've got this ongoing condition where I never seem to be able to remember Led Zep songs by name (minus the big 20 or so songs) Not sure why that is. This thread has inspired me to do some quality Zep listening this weekend. I'll report back
Also, Traveling Riverside Blues has always been one of my favorites. I know it's a cover

"The Crunge" is probably my least favorite LZ song.
"Achilles' Last Stand" should be everyone's #1.

Are we sure she wasn't thinking of La Grange by ZZ Top? Because that's a way better song.
