Im ready to dive into this band again after such a long hiatus from it.
Im still blown away at their career and the show i saw back in 2008 was one of the best shows i saw in my life. Stipe had such a powerful presence. It felt so fucking real and emotional it was hard to see.

I miss them and at the same time im glad they closed their career like they did.

Yep, that was a good show

Just checking in.

It’s lightly raining outside and Reckoning went on while washing dishes after breakfast.

I have the day off today and no plans. The rest of the house is still asleep. Dishes are done.

I might just ride this album all the way to Little America.

Washing machine, I think we're lost.

Accelerate, the first blast of songs specifically, kills.

I’m a big fan of Accelerate and Collapse Into Now. Both have some of my absolute favorite REM songs.

Added "Bad Day" and "Oh My Heart" to my playlist of good R.E.M. songs. The latter is really, really beautiful. I like how the "the storm didn't kill me, the government changed" lyric plays off "Houston" too.

As a final album, Collapse Into Now is impressive. Talk about going out on a high note...

Discoverer
Oh My Heart
It Happened Today
Every Day Is Yours To Win
Mine Smell Like Honey
Walk It Back

I haven't studied the lyrics properly for a while. I can see Stipe alluding to the end of the band in 'It Happened Today' but can anyone spot other moments throughout the record that hints at what's to come?

I like "Bad Day" a lot. I used the phrase "shit so thick you can stir with a stick" in a conversation the other day.

Adam Scott is very vocal about “All the Best” being a farewell song

Also... Uberlin and Blue.

What a fantastic album to end on.

Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter is a fun song too. I love Collapse Into Now.

The RU Talkin' REM Re: Me podcast has cemented how little I care about early REM. Murmur is not a good record. I'm really not sure why people love it so much.

Oh i love Murmur. Yeah, early REM is so different...but Radio Free Europe, Pilgrimage and Talk About The Passion are way up there in their catalogue. Its kinda astonishing they were already making so damn good pop songs.

I like a handful of early REM songs but yeah that period mostly does nothing for me.

I feel the same way. I'll take 1990 onwards, but I like only a handful of their pre-90s stuff.

They are good people. Just a little misguided. LV will love these songs in a few years. Maybe Joe needs a female vocalist. But they are good people.
