This was good

I figured you'd like that.

It was pretty good.

I didn't expect this from you though, Peter. Merry fucking New Year, I guess.

So this was kind of a big deal. I made the correct decision in attending the Saturday show, even though I was a bit late & standing near the back of the venue. One of the coolest all-around nights of live music in a good long while.

Sometimes I'm really glad I live here.

I've been enjoying an old bootleg I forgot I had from the Up tour called 'No Central Rain'. There is a great version of Everybody Hurts on it, with a pretty intense ending that's definitely not there on the album version. There is also a really good version of Lotus. That song was an instant favorite when I listened to 'Up' (when we had the draft REM tournament), and that album in general is pretty great.

I still think about this.

I love REM but they were much better in the studio than live. Live good, studio great.

I had an absolute blast both times I saw R.E.M. play. Although the first time I'll admit that I was a little overwhelmed as it was my first ever concert and I'd built these guys up to be musical gods in my mind way back then

Saw them on the Up tour and they were solid. They played a lot of New Adventures which made me happy.

Saw them again right before Accelerate came out and was underwhelmed. They played 15 songs, 9 of which were on the new album.

I wish I would have seen that Monster tour.

They were the one band left that I really, really wanted to see for a while. My wife and I almost bought tickets on a whim a bunch of years ago, and then decided we would wait until next time instead. They split up shortly after that.

Was just giving Collapse into Now a spin earlier - what a great fucking band these guys were. It's a shame we're not going to get any new music from them
