On the other hand, such a great way to go out.

I still listen to several songs from this album on the reg, with Discoverer the clubhouse leader.

I’m a big fan of this album. It’s one of my favorite REM albums for sure. And Discoverer is an AWESOME song. I absolutely love it. Did you know it was the last song they ever played together as a band? This is that final performance. :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:

Super unpopular opinion, I know, but as the dust has settled, I think Collapse is my second favorite REM album.

"Collapse" has aged well, and feels deeper and more emotional with the specter of their breakup hovering over it.

That "Discoverer" video is great; Stipe gives a few looks that really make it appear as though he feels the finality of the occasion.

I think they decided they were finished when the touring plans came after the album. I remember them talking about not feeling it anymore.

"Collapse" is a good album, but maybe the only one that feels superfluous to their catalog for me.
I enjoy them when I listen to it, but I don't think any of the songs of that album are particularly memorable.

It might be my second favorite too, following Hi-Fi.

This was a great album to go out with. I hadn't listened to any R.E.M. in the longest time and chucking this on the turntable made me realize how much I'd love some new music from these guys

Hi-Fi is my favorite!

Word.

I love Accelerate and Automatic too.

Actually, I like a whole bunch of REM albums a lot, but Collapse is a wonderful final album and I love it.
