They're already so readily available. I've been thumbing through those titles at my local record store for years. Usually priced very reasonably. I guess Orphans is something but the others any fan that wants them already has them. Bone Machine goes for around $100 bucks on the other hand for a fan that's looking.

Yeah, my collection is rife with $10-$12 copies of the 70s stuff. I actually have two copies of some of those.

I guess there is an issue with Bone Machine and some of the other stuff where he doesn't get to decide on reissues? I don't want to sound like I'm blaming the guy.

On a positive note, seeing this email come through the other day lead to my sitting in a quiet lounge on our cruise ship, drinking long island teas, reading my book and listening to "Heart Attack and Vine".

It was a lovely afternoon.

I'm really only interested in Heartattack and Vine and Blue Valentine. I can't seem to find those anywhere near me. The others I see all the time.

These reissues are of 0 interest to me

Same. Although, I could possibly be talked into some better-sounding CD versions of the '80's Island albums -- those have always sounded kind of dull and airy to me.

I don't think I expect an album of newly recorded material from him at this point. I really think Bad As Me will be his final proper album. We'll only get collections from here on.

Crazy to think it's been nearly as long since "Bad As Me" as it was between "Real Gone" and "Bad As Me," and this time there were no tours, rarities comps, etc.

I'm not holding my breath but some new Waits would definitely hit the spot.

(He didn't die)

Man I haven't listened to his first few records in a while but these remasters sound really good.

Interesting. Wonder why they dumped the series idea and turned it into a feature. Can't wait to hear more about the development/journey of the project.

that's exciting.

My kids are discovering Tom Waits. Road to Peace is currently the most requested song (age 7) followed by Don't Go Into That Barn. Speaking of Barns, we played Murder in the Red Barn this morning and I had a 15 minute conversation on the drive to camp with my 5 year old about what might make that barn spooky, and I got to explain what murder means!

ANTI- Records will issue Marc Ribot’s new album Songs Of The Resistance 1942 – 2018 on September 14. The guitarist’s guest-filled protest record includes the track “The Militant Ecologist” featuring Meshell Ndegeocello.

Ribot recorded a mix of traditional protest songs and new originals on the 11 track Songs Of The Resistance 1942 – 2018. In addition to Ndegeocello, additional guests appearing on the album include Tom Waits, Steve Earle, Sam Amidon, Justin Vivian Bond, Fay Victor, Tift Merritt and Ohene Cornelius. Proceeds from the “Anti-Trump” record will be donated to Indivisible Guide.

“I am alarmed by Trump and the movement he’s part of,” Ribot stated. “I’ve spent a good chunk of my life running around the world on tour—I’m kind of an accidental internationalist—and I see that he’s not an isolated phenomenon. And if we don’t deal with what is going on, it is going to deal with us.”

“The Militant Ecologist,” which is a reworked version of the Italian resistance song “Fischia il Vento,” can be heard accompanied by a visualizer made by Jem Cohen below:

Ribot’s shows in the last two years have been wilder and more daring than ever. Be interesting to see how it translates onto record.
