The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I'm Wide Awake is the only album of his I really like from start to finish (barring the intro, which is insufferable). It's kind of frustrating, because I feel like it's the first and only time he put aside the histrionics and pretension and actually put together a damn fine singer-songwriter record in the tradition of all those guys he's constantly compared to, but Cassadaga was a disappointing follow-up and The People's Key was probably the worst album I listened to in 2011.
I only really ever listened to Lifted and Wide Awake, which were decent records but kind of tiring in a way.
But Saddle Creek opened up my new favorite live venue I've ever been in a while back, The Slowdown. I'm hoping to find a sitter so I can go see Califone there in a week and a half.

Saddle Creek has always been cool in my books. There were no record stores where I grew up, so I typically ordered things direct from labels. Saddle Creek always sent me the album on CD for free every time I ordered it on vinyl.
