Just pre-ordered the live album. Really excited to hear this. I was late coming to The Replacements party, but I've since bought in in a big way.
Have you dug into Paul Westerbergs solo career?
I've recently started to check his solo stuff beyond his soundtrack work. I have Eventually, Stereo, and Come Feel Me Tremble. Any suggestions of additional work I should check out?

I've been slow getting to these. However, I did finally start to get around to Mono. Got about halfway through the album on Spotify and ended up buying a used CD on it that I found online. Really strong initial impression. Definitely liked what I heard more than some of the other solo work from him that I have. Looking forward to going deeper into it.

Much of his solo work post the replacements (14 songs through suicaine) was an attempt at capitlizing on the success of the replacements. Studio and record company interference hindered his true passions of song writing. Suiciane was an attempt at stripping it all away but after that I started releasing records he recorded from his basement. The Grandpaboy EP was done to release music away from his contract but shortly ater that he committed to hs own basement studio. That is where the real genius and amazing songs started to pour out. Grandpaboy EP with Hot Un, Psychopharmacology, Lush and Green etc.... great tracks. Then Stereo/Mono, Dead Man Shake, come feel me tremble, and Folker. These are all really solid records with incrdibly catchy tracks but all released from his basement so the production and drumming is somewhat curious.
He released a bunch of weird recordings after Folker through the internet and random distribution vehicles all to indulge his idiosyncratic tendencies. Some great songs came from all of that.
Recently he released "Wild Stab" under the 'I dont cares" with juliana hatfield which is a really fantastic record which was done post the replacements reunion.
Has anyone heard a bootleg of that Maxwell's show? Can't Hardly Wait sounds fantastic. I don't want to drop the cash on this if they are all over the place though.

The bootleg is easily available. Been listening to that for years. But the bootleg is the shitty cassette rip of the soundboard back in 85.
The vinyl release is sourced from the band itself. All tracked and mixed and mastered for release. They were intending to release it back in the mid 80's but moved on to recording Tim instead. I guess they re discovered the tapes back in 2007 and wanted to mix master and release them then but it's taken them ten years to get the band to want to release them
I hate to keep beating a dead horse around here, but if anyone has ever had any inkling to dig into the replacements, or have listened and were subsequently disgusted by some of the production or...shit if you just love wild and unpredictable and ferocious rock n roll. Please listen to this live album.
