Before No Code and Yield came out, +Live+ were my first teenage obsession band. Someone posted Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi and The Distance To Here in the 'best 3-album run' thread and I couldn't agree more - shame there was such a significant drop-off after that (though I am interested in hearing what the Ed-less 'Live 2.0' sounds like - new album due out this year).
Anyway, I've just concluded a huge 2-year project to collect together every B-Side and rarity over the band's career, which blew out to 10 discs. Living up to their name, they were an amazing live band in their day and there are tons of stellar live performances included here from every era. Also - some of the band's best songs were left on the cutting room floor (e.g. 'Hold Me Up') and these outtakes and leaks are also included.
I've shared this with a few fellow RMers who are into the band, but thought I'd post here for anyone else who might be interested.

The 1990’s and early 2000’s were not only a glorious time for the band +Live+, but for collectors of B-sides and rarities. Before the death of the CD single circa-2009, collectors used to scour record stores for these highly sought after (and often import only) releases, containing unique tracks such as covers, live performances, acoustic versions and remixes. Radio stations put out CD compilations of songs recorded in their studios and the band themselves gave their fanclub members Holiday Gifts featuring rare tracks. Some lucky fans were even able to obtain promotional versions of albums and singles containing rare outtakes and alternate versions of songs, which they kindly shared with the rest of the +Live+ fan community.
This ambitious project aimed to bring together every +Live+ track that has appeared on an officially released single, holiday gift, soundtrack, compilation or promo.
Many of these tracks have been circulating among fans as mp3s over the years, but this is the first time they have been collected together and shared in lossless format.
The discs have been arranged in chronological order and aimed to keep distinct eras of the band's history to separate discs. The radio edits have been collected on Disc 9, which serves as an alternate 'Greatest Hits', while remixes and side-projects etc. have been collected on Disc 10.
As a bonus, some unreleased songs taken from demo session tapes are included on Disc 8. While these tracks have been traded among fans previously, the versions included here have been expertly remastered by my fellow compilation enthusiast JWB, so this is the best sound quality these songs have ever been available in. You'll probably notice the biggest improvement in Hold Me Up and Susquehanna, which have undergone significant tape hiss reduction, time correction and now have an increased dynamic range. Hopefully one day the band will put out properly mastered versions of these and other unreleased songs.

It's incredible Hold Me Up never got onto an album...that was a surefire huge hit waiting to happen
Almost glad Ed K is out of the band...he just exuded douchebag...rest of the guys seem like they're pretty down to earth
The Gracious Few album with Kevin Martin was a great record...and I like Chris Shinn a lot in terms of how he fits on the old material (we'll see how the new material is)

+Live+ used to be a bug favorite of mine (up to and including V). I even like a few of the later tracks too. I'd love to get this pulled together for myself, but I'm terrible with putting this kind of thing together. It looks like a very cool project!

Distance was an album I really tried to like but it had too many things competing for my attention that year like I had only been married for 10 months and The Fragile was released (September 21, 1999 vs. October 5, 1999).

These guys were one of my favorite bands 94-2000. I really got off them with Distance - there's some good songs on it, but I really couldn't get into it. I'm going to check out this comp though. Great idea.
Yup - will be soon. Anyone recommend a free tracker that would accept this (given it contains officially released tracks?)
I'm surprised that so many RMers are/were also Live fans, since you never see them talked about here. Guess that says a lot for their relevance this century...

I grew up where these guys are from. We used to go see them in a small club in Lancaster all the time. They are all nice guys. After they made it big, I saw them in Charleston, SC. The lead singer recognized me and hung out after the show. /coolstory

It's top 5 for sure, but I'm always surprised by how well known and loved this song is by people outside the Live fan community.
In 2008 I unearthed a different remaster of the track superior to anything else being shared at the same (though inferior to JWB's remaster included here ) and uploaded it to mediafire - at last count it had been downloaded 24,572 times
Apparently the band didn't want it released on the Zack and Miri soundtrack - presumably because they know what a hit it could be and wanted to release it themselves.
It's the 20th anniversary of Throwing Copper this year so fingers crossed it's featured on a deluxe edition - would be not only a good move for fans but financially too...

I've read similar reasoning on the Zack and Miri thing too. It still amazes me that it wasn't on Throwing Copper (or anything since). It's like all the Binaural songs left by the wayside, except Hold Me Up would've been a HUGE hit.
I would also expect to see it released on any anniversary edition. They may even try to release it now to radio and see if they can get one last cash grab (before the inevitable band reunion 7-8 years from now).
