Anybody ever use Vinyl Me Please? Any good? Thinking about gifting someone a 3 mo. subscription.

I did it once so that I could get the Fiona Apple album. It was alright, but the per album cost didn’t add up for me. There are complaints of people receiving damaged albums, or the wrong album, and customer service being completely useless. I never had that issue though.

Although I’d join again for 3 months for an exclusive album I really wanted, I’m not crazy about the idea of not being able to choose what you get. Though, if they announce an album you aren’t jazzed about, you can decide to swap it for an album in their store if it’s in stock.

I signed up just to get I Love You, Honeybear. But I joined too late, missed the cut off date to get that record so I cancelled pretty quickly and had no issues with the customer service. They were super nice and accommodating and never charged me anything. For whatever that's worth...

I can vouch for this.

Their customer service is fine as they will respond and try to make it right. However, it never actually is made right. Ive ended up being resent a damaged vinyl, or the incorrect one. They'd miss months at a time.

They recently put out a big apology:

Quote:
As you may or may not know, we updated our member platform on November 19, 2019. It resulted in several issues, affecting your experience with VMP. We failed to communicate in this process, and we apologize that you’re reading this on January 10th, 2020 instead of November 10th, 2019. The issues created by the update left many of you confused, frustrated, and questioning your confidence in Vinyl Me, Please. We understand why:

We were too slow shipping orders, with many holiday products/gifts not arriving on time
We were too slow in responding to your customer service issues
We made too many mistakes in the process of shipping your orders, including shipping things to the wrong address, sending duplicate orders, and shipping the wrong things
We failed to proactively communicate to you during this process
We recognize these mistakes and sincerely apologize for the inconveniences caused in this process. This post serves to give more insight into why we decided to make this update and provide details on what corrective actions we’ve taken since. More insight on the most prominent issues is visible here.

Why we updated the platform
Our legacy platform may have seemed fine from the outside, but it required constant maintenance, including daily fixes and updates to perform basic functions. In essence, we were duct taping our old system together on a daily basis, and we were concerned that we would run out of duct tape before the end of the year. Given the information we had at the time, we felt the instability of the legacy platform posed a larger risk than performing the update.

Actions taken since platform update
Since the update, we have been focused on assessing and resolving the highest priority issues as quickly as possible. Our warehouse ran overtime through the month of December and into January to get orders shipped as quickly as possible. We have also added 4 more people to our customer support team, who have been working to answer questions as quickly as possible. We are continuing to prioritize the cleaning up of lingering issues, resolving unshipped orders, and responding to unanswered customer service questions.

Looking back, there are several things we would have done differently, but none more critical than communicating in advance of the migration and providing regular updates along the way. With this learning in mind, we have formed an internal action response team with a mandate for proactive customer communication.

VMP has evolved over the years and the reason we’re here remains the same: to experience music more deeply. Despite the issues this update has caused, this could not be truer going into 2020. Whether you are new to VMP, or have been here since the beginning, we are proud to call you a member, and we’re excited for all that 2020 has in store. We look forward to moving ahead and returning to the goal of exploring music together.

Sincerely,

VMP Team

it's a cool concept and some of the personal artwork received from the artist as part of the package was pretty cool.

But overall? Meh. Not really worth it.

I just upgraded my Rega Planar 3 with a new Ortofon 2m Bronze, added 3Mm tonearm spacer, and had to increase the lift on the tonearm lever...

really really really happy with the sound coming out of this beauty now, friends.

World and economy is collapsing around us but what better time than now!

Is bronze better than blue? I still have red, and probably long overdue to swap in a new one.

Ive noticed a improvement in sound with all the ortofons ive use: Red, Blue, and Bronze.

the first table I had i ugpraded through to the bronze.

Then i got the Rega P3 table which came with an altogether different cartridge: Elys 2.

So, i finally swapped that out for the bronze. its pricey upward to $500 but definitely worth it on this specific upgrade.

You've got a couple of options with In Utero.

The Steve Albini mix from 2013 is highly regarded (I've got it; it sounds great), and I would recommend that: https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Uter ... se/5146137

If you'd rather have the original mix, you could get the 3xLP version that also has a disc of b-sides and a handful of remixes (I also have this and it's a great package): https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Uter ... se/4940893

There's also a 1xLP version from 2008 that's just the original LP, if you'd rather go that route (reviews are not as stellar for this one): https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Uter ... se/1559511

2013 mix was a great suggestion. I will continue to bother you for more.

Upgraded to a Fluance RT81. I know its still entry level, but man it sounds wonderful, and looks even better.

I'm not a vinyl listener in any fashion but the medium as far as art goes is fantastic, though I'm sure that has probably been mentioned somewhere in the 200+ pages here. Anyway, there is a good chance I'll be ordering this and finding a way to display it:
