The “ooh ooh ooh” harmonies in the opening track are pretty epic, but I’ve got to give the best sound to Todd’s bass on Riding Bikes

A question for the more vinyl-knowledgeable folks here (I am very much a newbie). I want to buy this new pressing of an album by a string quartet. It's advertised as a "180 gram vinyl audiophile level" pressing. However, it is a 62 minute album stuffed into a single disc. Do you think this will cause problems? Or is the fact that it's just strings + vocals (not a very loud or bassy album) mean I shouldn't worry too much about that? Thanks

aside from the length question, the "180 gram audiophile level" is just marketing jargon and doesn't mean anything at all

I wouldn't worry about the length if it's just strings and vocals. I think 180g is generally preferred because it's less prone to warping over time. Not really a problem if you're storing things right, so pretty negligible all things considered.

I'd be me worried about where it was pressed. Small bands got a raw deal during covid, often going through crappy plants with low QC. Lots of noisy records showing up lately.

I heard Jack White opened an analog pressing plant where he just hired a really fat dude, strapped a master plate to his ass, and he sat on the vinyl
