Can I get a look-see first? I'll pay for shipping/delivery of anything I want AND I'll buy you a beer at the next Mynabirds show we attend together.

Look at my list and let me know if you're interested in anything.

Rough Trade had a RSD vinyl copy of Waits's Bastards from Orphans in stock somehow. So I grabbed it.

They were also spinning Murmur and I really liked it. Weird.

There's nothing weird about liking Murmur friend!

It's just a new sensation and unexpected. I have to adjust it in my rankings.

They’re just another arm of the online stores DeepDiscount, SoundstageDirecf, etc.

There’s nothing in that listing that says anything about the pressing, and unless you just really love snowy white records, really no need to spend $30 on that album unless you’re buying the MoFi version (which you can find for $30-35 easily). They’re just trying to create a false sense of scarcity by only pressing 2500 of that particular color. You can get a black vinyl copy of that album for $16.

Does that qualify as a bootleg? Do the artists sign off on it? Is the quality the same as a normal, black vinyl I'd get on Amazon?

Like, if I really like the colored vinyl, am I losing quality?

Not a bootleg, no, as it's pressed and released by the label--a bootleg would be an unauthorized pressing, which you do see from time-to-time. The general "it-is-known" in the vinyl world is that color pressings on the whole don't sound as good as black vinyl, but I don't know enough to explain why. Of course, you can always get a bum black pressing. Best to read reviews, check and see where and how an album was mastered (or re-mastered), and shop around for deals.

Discogs can be helpful here on a number of fronts. If something is a bootleg, they will not allow it to be sold on their marketplace (check out this blue bootleg of Avocado: https://www.discogs.com/Pearl-Jam-Pearl ... se/5623372). It can also help you determine if a limited release is really that limited (there are actually two pressings of Pinkerton on snowy-white vinyl, one from 2016 and one from 2018, so snatcher's comment about a false sense of scarcity is really x2). And when you do find what's considered the best pressing (like the MoFi reissue, which has lots of glowing reviews), you can often find a good deal.

no, they are an official reissue program of universal music group, as is 'back to black'. so it's as official as it gets.
