The biggest recent release is probably Kamasi Washington's Heaven and Earth which is incredible but I am not sure it's something you'd be into (still, maybe give it a try; start with his version of the "Fists of Fury" theme)

Right now I'm listening to Art Hirahara's Sunward Bound and really enjoying it, check that one out.

I'm working on a Spotify playlist of a bunch of contemporary stuff, such as Hirahara, Linda May Han Oh, Fabian Almazan, Florian Weber, Sound Prints, etc. A lot of artists from the same NYC scene. There's a lot of good stuff out there right now.

It will probably be 12 songs but feel like 450 because it's jazz

Thanks for this, I'll seek out some of the unfamiliar names on that list. I ordered that Ambrose Akimusire album, as well as his previous one ("A Rift in Decorum"), a couple weeks ago. Very different from each other, but both really great.

I've also been really enjoying a couple ECM albums ("Rising Grace" and "Where the River Goes") from the guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel, both of which feature Akinmusire on trumpet, Mehldau on piano, Larry Grenadier on bass, and Brian Blade on drums:

I don't know if I ever spoke to you about Fabian Almazan's Alcanza, but I feel like I must have, because I've been raving about that album for almost two years. It's legitimately one of my favorite albums of all time at this point, I play it so much. Like many albums represented in this playlist, it was released by Biophilia Records, probably my favorite label right now. "Pater Familias", track 2 in the playlist, is a good sample of the album's sound, but it is even more sprawling and expansive than that.

I know Bloom and Teen Dream top most people's lists, and they're fantastic albums, but this is definitely my favorite Beach House record. Every song is just sublime, and "Days of Candy" is easily the best closer they've ever had. I feel like a lot of people expected them to get bigger and poppier after Bloom, but I like that they instead made a record that's insular and melancholic and simple, while also treading into some stranger waters, e.g. the choir on "Days" and the distorted, shoegaze-y quality of "Sparks."

I also love the album title, for reasons I'm not entirely sure of. It just feels right.

I listened to your playlist and liked every song on it. Now Googling Biophilia Records.

I love this version of Ligeti's Etude No. 5 "Arc-en-Ciel". Maybe it's partly because the first ~2 minutes reminds me of Waits' 9th & Hennepin.
