Seems divisive around here. But I think it's outstanding and it seems like it's getting some great press overall. You should definitely check it out but be ready to not love it.

I'll listen to it on a walk sometime this week.
I like it! It's a good walking album, I think. It benefits from movement. The thing is kinetic as fuck.
I listened again yesterday. I like it. I agree with Trag that i missed her guitar, just because she is awesome at it, by its a wonderful album.
Yeah, and I really don't begrudge her at all for making a bold attempt at a big, conceptual pop record; I just happen to wish she went in a different direction, or perhaps executed her idea differently (more guitars, less vocal filters, less common pop synths).
It's not pure fun enough for me to enjoy like I can a Carly Rae Jepson record; it's not edgy enough for me to enjoy as a criticism on pop music and/or celebrity. Too much of it feels like she's trying to straddle the lines between pure pop and intellectual art. But I'm sure that while this one cranky fan is turned off, she's probably winning over a whole new legion of fans who had never given her a chance before, so in that regard I expect this album to be hugely successful for her.
I have the same thoughts but i like the album. I dont think she really pushed herself to something new, i said earlier that the leap from SM to ST was a big one..here she seems to be doing the same thing with st but more pop oriented. Which is fine anyway because i like most of the songs here.
I do hope to get that other version of the album....those piano driven live versions are sweet.

Finally listened to the whole album. The first two songs are a bit shaky, but overall I like it a lot. Often it reminds me of what a non-shoegaze Curve would be (similar sense of precision without the overdriven scuzz). And I like that for this record, the guitar is simply an element, deployed. Not the center of it. Similar to Prince's pop singles. "Los Ageless" is still my favorite song here

That's an interesting parallel.
Plat's a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt and his butt smells and he likes to kiss his own butt
