The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I wish I could get into her most recent stuff, because Actor and Marry Me were both good, but I can't help but be left cold by these new songs. The balance between accessibility and eccentricity has tipped out of skew; the music's too clean and the image, which I think has become more important than the music, is too weird.

It's nice seeing her artistic side continue to evolve naturally. It doesn't feel as phony as these run of the mill shock pop artists that have come and gone the past decade. I don't know who exactly I'm referencing, but I stand by that.
I'm hearing a lot of Bjork in the newer St Vincent albums and that's never a bad thing.

Her chordal and melodic tendencies are absolutely reminiscent of that era--I think the thing I love most about her music is how effortlessly she combines that antique sensibility with these very distinctly modern arrangements, in a way that seems natural rather than some kitschy attempt at "fusion." The records are sonically explosive but even if you scaled the arrangements way back, the compositions themselves would hold up.
I'll have to check out the track she did for Boardwalk Empire--I absolutely adore the track Elvis Costello did for that show.
just bought tickets to see this broad in concert tonight. never really listened to her. just so i know where i should stand: what does super nintendo chalmers think of her?

Still liking this a lot. The tracks I keep coming back to are ''Rattlesnake,'' ''Huey Newton,'' ''Bring Me Your Loves,'' and the stunning ''Severed Crossed Fingers.''

Bring me your loves was probably the one I liked the least. The vocal melody felt too much like a gimmick
