"Fast Cars" is great, though that probably belongs on the actual best-of disc.
Oddly, the best "non-album" track that came out between 2000 and 2020 is probably "Electrical Storm" (2002), but that came out as the "new" track on the "Best of 1990-2000" album, which would make it an odd candidate for this project.
‘Fast Cars’ is a lock for the bonus disc, though I’m going to use the Jacknife Lee Mix which is just as good and less widely available than the original which is on most versions of HTDAAB.
I love ‘Electrical Storm’ too but yes, not a candidate.
The version of ‘Winter’ from Linear is great - really should have been on the album.
‘Invisible’ belongs on the main disc IMO.
Have you guys heard the version of ‘Mercy’ from the HTDAAB sessions? I think it’s better than the later live version they released, but obviously the sound quality isn’t quite up to scratch...
Assuming you are going to include Elevation, please oh please, use the Tomb Raider Mix. The album version is extremely inferior.
Oh absolutely - for ages I had only heard the Single/Tomb Raider mix then when I eventually downloaded the album on Kazaa ( ), I thought I must have downloaded a demo version of Elevation by mistake - I just couldn’t believe that’s how they had it on the album

FAN-MADE PROJECT - NOT FOR SALE

Over recent years, U2 fans have debated in various online forums what a possible third instalment of U2's 'Best of' series might look like. The consensus seems to be that given the release of only two albums in each of the last two decades, it makes sense to combine them. This fan-made compilation represents my take on what such a release might consist of. As with the 1980-1990 and 1990-2000 compilations, this one was not limited to songs released as singles (remember 'Gone' and 'UTEOTW' were on 1990-2000 - two of my all-time favourite songs). So along with my personal opinion of their best singles from this period, I have included what I consider to be essential album tracks. I have also decided to include the single versions of 'Elevation' and 'Walk On' (both released in 2001) as they were curiously not even included on the 'Best of 1990-2000' DVD set (which included bonus videos for all the other singles not included on the CD set), so I believe it's likely the band intended to hold them over for the next instalment in the 'Best of' series.
I also thought it would be fun to include a bonus disc containing key b-sides, rarities, and remixes etc., especially given the high quality of many of these songs from this period. As per the 1990-2000 2CD set, this also gives a chance to acknowledge some of the singles that were left off the main disc.
The best lossless sources have been used for each track, with the exception of 'Ordinary Love (Paul Epworth Version)', which was only ever released via Soundcloud (128k MP3), and 'The Troubles', taken from the 2017 'Apple Digital Master' (256k M4A), which fixed the frequency loss issue identified in all 2014 releases: https://www.u2songs.com/news/tech_troub ... tunes_re_r
I have agonised over the sequencing for this set for months and come up with something that I think works really well, with each song made stronger by the transition from the song preceding it. Hope you enjoy this listen - it left me feeling like the 21st Century has actually been a really strong period for the band after all!
As always, please share this freely in its FLAC form (keep mp3 versions for your own use) and support the band by purchasing their official releases (if you are reading this I'm sure you already have ).
Enjoy!

Out of curiosity, does anyone have the fan club CD release of the Zoo TV tour show from Sydney? I think they were released in 2006. I'm not looking for the discs themselves, just a good quality rip I can download.

Anyone else been paying attention to U2's "Virtual Road" releases? I'm watching Popmart in Mexico right now, and I'm realizing how much I had forgotten of this tour. Obviously there's always been the talk of Pop being unfinished and rushed out, but they have a great handle on things by this point in the tour. I tend to think pretty highly of Pop, but I'll take this version of Last Night on Earth and some others any day. I need to find an audio rip of this somewhere.

I did indeed - I think I found it on discogs
Thanks again for the cover inspiration and welcome to the board
P.S. I did try the image in bronze (following the gold, silver, ... theme of the first two sets) but it looked like poo
i think i gave that a go too, did not look very good. having listened to the tracklists here a few times now, i have found them all to be quite good, with a newfound love for no line on the horizon.
maybe a proper booklet insert now? perhaps with lyrics? i could even compile them. just spitballing, lol. thanks again.
