Zooropa is one of my ten favorite albums of all-time, and creeps up against the top five at times.

When thinking about U2 - I kinda put Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop all together as one body of work.

oh wait, somedays are better than others is pretty good too. But it's definitely towards the bottom of U2s 'make a list of things' songs, compared to stuff like Hawkmoon or All I Want is You.

You have now professed to liking seven songs on a ten song record. All that's left is Babyface, Numb, and Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Cars. YOU CAN DO IT STIP. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

I like Zooropa. I'd probably put it at 5 or so.

Achtung
Joshua Tree
Unforgettable Fire
Pop or Atomic Bomb
Zooropa

then there's a drop off. But the first three are amazing albums. Pop and Zoorpopa are uneven but have a lot of strong songs. Atomic Bomb is consistently good but derivative. I enjoy it (except for miracle drug) when I hear it, but I rarely feel compelled to listen.

It's been a long time but I think I kinda hate babyface.

Babyface is my least favorite song on the record, but I like it as a trashy cyberlust song. I related to it a lot in the 90s.

Miracle Drug is at the bottom of the barrel in the U2 catalog for me. Ugh.

Far more hilarious than the miscounting is Edge shouting "Donde esta?" in the background of the chorus.

is he? I always thought he was saying "contesta", which wouldn't be that terrible for some reason.

I have a real thing for artists who push their identity to the point of absurdity like that....

Spoiler: show

Something about being able to genuinely laugh about the same people I'm also having this sort of internal, very emotional conversation with...it's just glorious to me.

In the case of U2, it's the way they push their grandiosity to the point of those hilariously stupid missteps, or to where Bono is actually more of a cartoon than any South Park cartoon making fun of him. I dunno. I just adore that shit.

U2 is also probably totally self-aware about it, which, when you're feeling charitable, makes it easier to deal with.

Whether "self-aware" benefits or hurts just depends on the nature of the absurdity.

Not anymore, really. The Stones skyrocketed on this last tour, didn't they? In 2009/2011 U2 was still like $70 for GA, $130 for most reserved, right? We'll see what they are next spring/summer, but I can't see them jumping to the level the Stones were at last year (in large part cause I can't see U2 abandoning the GA floors).

true story for you: Bono lived around the corner from me in NY and I used to see him all the time..One day he was walking towards me on the street and I said something to the tune of " hey, how about you stop trying to save the world and put on some free concerts here in the city"..he just laughed

I can't imagine how horribly and irreparably infected your smile-bladder must be, to respond to an image like that by seriously pondering ticket prices anywhere, to anything.
