:hooray: I love the way chords and melodies drift in and out, like the record is at the intersection of ten other albums and you're just catching glimpses as they drive by.

For all my pitchfork hate, they did a great write up of this one.

the entire record is just lap steel and pedal steel with a bunch of live FX

i have been playing klaus schulze/pete namlook's 'dark side of the moog' series as my work soundtrack these last couple weeks as i work on data sheets and reports. not a bad way to spend time doing somewhat menial labor.

thanks for the heads up on that lanois album. looks like it's been out a couple years? i knew nothing of it, though, so i appreciate the recommendation.

Code:
Stage 5 - September 2018 (K+L+M+N)
Post-Awareness Stage 5 confusions and horror.
More extreme entanglements, repetition and rupture can give way to
calmer moments. The unfamiliar may sound and feel familiar.
Time is often spent only in the moment leading to isolation.

So Daniel Lanois did a record with Venetian Snares that is awesome. First track is bonkers, like Aphex Twin meets Eno:

^^ Gotta check out that Tim Hecker.

Dave Pajo was a member of Slint. Apparently he had a failed suicide attempt in 2015 and then was involved in a car accident that left him in a wheelchair. He goes by "Papa M" these days and has released A Broke Moon Rises subtitled music for four acoustic guitars. Just listened through while working this afternoon and it is really gorgeous. Soft and chilled and tranquil and well worth a listen.

Here's opener "The Upright Path".

Good stuff, V.

:nice:

I saw Pajo play a solo guitar set many years ago but have only occasionally kept up with his releases.

Could just as easily put this in the "Albums of 2019" thread.

At home, working late, and Sebastian Plano's new album Verve is totally hitting the spot. Here's Purples for your listening pleasure.

Just learned about pedal steel guitarist Chas Smith from an interview with Jim O'Rourke, spinning this album today:

Saariselka is a Californian duo who here have come up with "Ambient Americana". Really enjoying their 2020 debut album "The Ground Our Sky".

Here's Subsurface to get you in the mood:
