Though Grails or Caspian would be my choice.

Out of curiosity, Ruddo, do you recall any particular misses in your attempt to get into post-rock? It could be helpful in determining what aspects attract you to the genre.

Not sure I remember specific groups or songs, but I guess it would be helpful to pay attention to that. I've been listening to Sigur Ros, Mogwai, and Pullman for years, but guess I never really payed attention to much else in the genre.

I hate post rock like the one R2D just posted. I probably devoured roughly 10k hours of that stuff in the mid-aughts, but now all that epic, loud bombastic stuff bores me to tears. I much prefer the more sparse and minimalist end of the post-rock spectrum.

I'm with Trag, for the most part, though I do still like to get down with some bombast every once in a while. I'm still a big fan of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Explosions in the Sky, after all. But yeah, give me meandering structures and minimalist forms everyday, and I'm happy.

I don't think I've ever heard Pullman, but I should probably check them out due to the Tortoise connections. I listened to the first couple Brokeback albums recently, and they were pretty wonderful.

I really like most forms of post-rock but I only can listen to the genre in small doses.
