I don't listen to much post-rock but this is usually my go-to when I feel the need.

Might not be apropos for this thread but Great Waves by The Dirty Three w/Cat Power would be great on this soundtrack.

Been listening to these 2 bands a lot.

And it seems Mono's Hymn to the Immortal Wind will be forever in my head.

I kinda stopped caring about post-rock and tend to focus on ambient/drone/neo-classical kind of stuff now. But I still enjoy SR/GYBE/RC/Grails/YONL.

Has anyone mentioned Balmorhea yet? Can't embed, so clicky instead.

Yeah, good band, even though I didn't care for their latest album at all. They're closer to the kind of sound I like than to the stereotypical guitar crescendo post-rock.

I don't know anything other than the one album tbh. But I like it.

Their first three albums are more in the vein of what you posted IIRC (All Is Wild All Is Silent being my fav of that bunch), after that they went a bit more minimal, less catchy on the 4th one, almost ambient, and that would be the one I like the most.

I really, really love Trust and Things We Lost In The Fire by Low.

Secret Name and Curtain Hits the Cast are also exquisite, although the two you mentioned are my favorites.

This thread made me remember my "your guide to godspeed" on the old board, and

Sigur Ros / Balmorhea / Godspeed. Those are the only post-rock bands that, after repeated listening, I find to really have their own identities. I like Explosions in The Sky, but whenever I hear them all I keep thinking is that Sigur Ros stole their best ideas and make more interesting songs out of them. The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place is a decent album but I mostly enjoyed it because Sigur Ros obviously took influence from it.

Also, I've spent a few years trying to get into Russian Circles, and concluded that I like the idea more often than I like the execution.

Do Make Say Think and Caspian have both put out some solid records. And several of the godspeed spin-offs are really great.
