...on an underrated album.

speaking of underrated... pete thomas. no one ever includes his name when talking about great drummers but he absolutely deserves to be mentioned. plays with tight authority. (i don't want to go to) chelsea is one of my favorite drum songs ever.

This has been on Youtube for a while, but I'm only now watching the full thing. EC & The Attractions's full 1978 Rockpalast set. They played with all the unconstrained energy of a punk band. Lacking the finesse of the later years, but still great to watch.

Sounds like something out of King of America.

Today was the man's 60th birthday. I recorded a special podcast in celebration, featuring 30+ songs (outtakes, alternate versions, deep album cuts, live performances) as well as commentary from guests including filmmakers, authors and podcasters inspired by Elvis.

Check it out here. I keep my yappin' to a minimum.

I'm not sure I can think of a more underrated songwriter.

Excerpt from the audiobook version of his upcoming memoir. I love this kinda stuff.

He reminds me of this super hot girl named Allison I worked with. She was into music and I always asked her if this world was killing her. She understood my joke. I should have tried harder to hit on her.

Some of you probably caught us pimpin' it on Facebook, but for anyone having theplatypus withdrawals, check out Jorge's and my new "Elvis Costello Song of the Week" blog:
http://ecsotw.tumblr.com

This blog services a) folks who are Costello fans, by providing them reading materials on their favorite music, and b) folks who should be Costello fans, by introducing them to some of the greatest music ever, and since these two categories encompass virtually 100% of humans on planet earth, chances are you should come along for the ride. :)

I love that performance so much.

It was released as an iTunes single, so yes probably. However even the best rip of that show is going to have that weird sound quality, because that is a very weird sounding show. I think it has to do with the sound of the casino it was shot in. I'm afraid that my Aunt Kathy will never have a truly normal life, the kind of quiet mundane life I truly wish for her.

I like this new song a lot

It sounds like the songs he wrote with Bacharach.

Post subject:  Re: Elvis Costello

Actually, it sounds even more Bacharach-y than the songs he wrote with Bacharach.
