Since we're derailing the great MYM debate of 2013 with discussion of them, I'd figure I'd start an appropriate thread over here. I've been anxiously awaiting this album since I heard Lies for the first time last fall. The Mother We Share & Lies were two of my favorite singles of 2012, Recover & Gun are two of my favorites from 2013, and their show at the Mercury Lounge in NYC last March was one of the best shows I've seen in as long as I can remember.

(Also Lauren Mayberry is pretty much perfect)

I have 'The Mother We Share' on my MP3 player. Which song should I head to next?

Lies, Recover, and Gun are the three other singles. I think Lies is the strongest cut of the three...

Have you ever heard her old band, Blue Sky Archives? I'm a fan of them as well. Very different, but still excellent. The second half of this song is stunning...

I'm with you, I am really looking forward to their album. I have heard they end their shows with The Mother We Share, and the crowd goes ape shit. I'm looking forward to seeing them. And yes, Lauren is without a doubt the perfect woman. She's went to law school and has a degree or something in journalism. Their music has integrity and it sounds good!

When I saw them they closed with a cover of I Would Die 4 U by Prince. And yeah, Lauren's accolades are ridiculous. Law Degree, Masters in Journalism, and accomplished drummer/pianist/vocalist. It's almost unfair that someone like her exists.

For what it's worth, she legitimately has my favorite voice ever. I've yet to hear a single spot in her range where her tone nags at me (which I can't think of a single other vocalist who I feel the same way about, except maybe PJ Harvey), and her nuances are the right amount of unique without being unbearable at times.

I missed out on seeing them this summer. A couple of my friends went and I have no idea why I didn't go with them.

They're starting another US tour next week, so you'll probably have another shot to see them. You're in Boston, right?
