I should note that if I could only take ten of these:

Borne, Hungersite, All I Need, Arcadia, Hot Tea, Tumble, Wysteria Lane, Arrow, Dripfield, and Madhuvan would probably be it.

Wasn’t there, but last night (night 3 of 5 at the Capitol Theatre), they covered In Your Eyes, and played Mustang Sally with Jimmy Fallon. Must have been a real fun evening.

In some ways, this marks the end of this journey of getting to the show, and in reality, the journey’s now just begun. To say that recordings don’t do this band justice would be a massive understatement. The energy swirling around the place - the band, the crowd, and the lights created really an atmosphere that pretty unmatched…and the playing…holy smokes these guys can tear it up. You can sort of get what’s happening on the live recordings with Rick Mitarotonda and Peter Anspach, or at least a fraction of it, but you really miss out on the rest of the band that’s just incredibly tight. Borne was nuts - the bass and drums going at double time while guitar and keys played at a normal pace and it sounded just as good if not better than the record. The psychedelic swirl of the first part of the Madhuvan jam turning into a massive band freak out was on another level. The first set closing Rockdale might have been one of the best live music moments I have ever experienced. This band is more than worth the hype…I was with a die hard Phish fan who admitted these guys topped them. Honestly, this could have been the best show I’ve ever seen.

Set One: Jive I, Atlas Dogs, Elizabeth, California Magic, Borne, The Old Man’s Boat, Rockdale

Set Two: Tumble, Not Alone, Rosewood Heart, Sinnerman, Madhuvan

Encore: Turned Clouds

I really do think that is great sentiment with Trey's touring around with them and knowing that the torch will inevitably be passed.

Yeah it was really cool that he toured with them in the fall. He’s jumped on stage with them a bunch of times too. Wouldn’t be shocked if he did that tonight, show 5 of 5 in Port Chester. I imagine they got something up their sleeves.

Goose release Live at the Salt Shed today from their shows this Spring, plus a 31 minute sound check jam - so 6 hours and 20 mins. I will get to it eventually.

So far I've agreed with nearly everything you've written about their releases (the ones I've heard anyway)

I am "late" to this party, but they've convinced me they're great. Looking forward to where they go next.

Yeah, they can really play. It took me a minute because Rick Mitarotonda’s voice has an almost pop rock quality to it - but once you get used to that, he even plays around with his voice to keep things interesting and challenging - and it sort of keeps their songs, a bit more serious in tone than say a Phish - from losing their orbit. And live they are all hands on deck. Great band.

I listened to the first of the two Salt Shed shows. Incredible. Topping it off with a crazy cover of Tomorrow Never Knows was just wow. Damn they are great.

In the second set of the second show of the Salt Shed shows. This is some of the most mind blowing live recordings I can remember hearing. That version of Pancakes single-handedly blows the shit out of almost anything I have heard before - particularly as they play off the groove in the second 10 minutes. Crazy.

I had an opportunity to see these guys last year in Columbia, MD and foolishly I missed my chance. They really are great, nicely kept secret. Dripfield is glorious

This band sucks and I've never listened to them but considering the bands they get aligned with and the dude in front of me at the Pearl Jam show in St. Paul who wore their hat - fuck them

He was wearing neon pink running shorts. Neon green running shoes. White sunglasses. A tye dye scarf. Hot pink goose hat on backwards. White sunglasses upside down backwards.

Dancing like he was on X at a rave. Every song. Including off he goes.

If you can’t boogie down to Off He Goes, you got no soul.

I mean, I’ve suffered decades of going to Pearl Jam shows with bros dressed in Eddie Vedder costumes.

I mean, if Pearl Jam fans were at a Springsteen show, would they wear folded bandanas and hand cut sleeveless shirts and talk about the heartland?

That notwithstanding, the EP I think is really good - the Travelers have a neat atmospheric build leading through and into Elmeg the Wise. Good stuff.
