OK, so checked out Aussie girl (and partner of Courtney Barnett) Jen Cloher's latest album "I am the River, The River is Me". This was an engaging, interesting listen, recorded between Aotearoa and Melbourne and has numerous songs sung in Maori as well as English. Yeah, I'm a fan of this one. I feel somehow more connected to the things around me for listening. Weird.

Shout out to Joey who I think would be into this one.

Here's the lead single My Witch with Camp Cope's own Georgia Maq guest starring.

I loved that one. My fave is actually the closer, I Am Coming Home.

Everything But the Girl today release Fuse, their first album since 1999. I've never much been into these guys but looking forward to giving this a listen - loving the lead single here - "Nothing Left to Lose".

And sticking on the uptempo dancey theme I have going this very very fine post-solar-eclipse Friday morn, here's The Chemical Brothers new single, "No Reason", which I assume is from a forthcoming album. Their single "No Geography" from the album of the same name was one of my absolute favourite tracks of 2019. Bring back the big beats!

I like the drumline snare. The song didn't blow my hair back but it's neat enough.

I was waiting for Daughter's new album to drop and have finally given it a listen. Nothing ground breaking here - they really are a band you can pick within a few seconds of listening, but I guess that is much to do with Elena Tonra's vocals. Fun fact - she has the same first name as my Mum. Nice.

I really loved Not to Disappear from 2016, partly because the subject matter hit so close to home for me. This new one, Stereo Mind Game, at first listen is giving me what I want from a Daughter album. I do very much like the lead single here - "Be On Your Way". These guys manage to consistently get me in the feels for some reason.

Just on that Daughter album above ^^ the album comes with a bonus live disc of 6 songs from a live show from a few years ago at Brixton Academy that is pretty sweet too. FY-fucking-I peeps.

I remember liking a couple of songs off of If You Leave.

I am on record here with my love of all things Ripley Johnson. The new Rose City Band album continues that feeling. Nothing unexpected here, just the usual quality and 'shroomy goodness I have come to expect.

Here's Moonlight Highway:

The abrupt finish to this one makes much more sense in the context of the whole album...

Fun fact: I am away for work for the week Han Solo. I was just replaying that vid and for whatever reason decided I should try and dance along a bit. I very fucking nearly did my knee. That would have been fun.

I (wish I understood that I) am getting waaaaay too old for this shit.

Apparently Fred Again used to live down the road from Brian Eno and even joined an acapella singing group that ran out of Eno's studio back in the day. The pair have just put out an album together Secret Life. The album is on Four Tet's label and he calls it "the most beautiful album you'll hear this year".

I heard this on the way to work this morning and it speaks to me as I am finding myself currently at the end of my tether, having difficulty coping and simply have had enough. Hopefully this one will give me some respite.

Take care Higgs. You've got friends here who will listen if you need it.
