Just a few years back Eddie told a story about how he was at a bar the other night with Bono. He said Bono told him that U2 songs are like racehorses. They feed them, groom them and train them, and when they release them, they want them to win the race! Eddie said he told him Pearl Jam songs are like horses too. They feed them, groom them, take care of them and then they release them in a field to run free.
Ed isn't competing for hits.
But sorry for turning this into a PJ vs. KOL & U2 thing. Wasn't my intention. I like this album and think it's clearly their best since Because of the Times.

So these guys have definitely figured out their formula of choice. One guitar on delay. One drenched in reverb. 4/4 drums, heavy on ghosting. Bass does whatever, although the tone is okay. Vocals are dialled in. It sounds like shit.
