The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

I made a JJ Cale thread tonight, not knowing this one existed. I posted five great songs. Some mod deleted it.
I get wanting to clean up the board, and I appreciate the mods' work. But for fuck's sake, it took me a couple minutes to cobble that post together. At least have the decency to move it to another thread.

A mod has informed me that there's no record of my thread being deleted. So perhaps it was technical error -- maybe it just didn't post for some reason.
Joseph I apologize for dragging your good name through the mud over this thing.

well, since this thread got resurrected...
in case anyone was unaware, early last year a posthumous cale record was released, called 'stay around'. his longtime partner christine lakeland compiled completed but unheard tracks cale had recorded.
his youtube channel also released a series of short videos under the title "my jj cale" that featured artists talking about jj, his music, and his influence, with some of them also including short covers. fyi, many of the videos will probably require you to turn on the captions.
lastly, his mid-90s to early-00s records that never received vinyl pressings were finally reissued, making every jj cale album available on vinyl if that's your thing.

I'm not on Spotify so I don't get to play the year-in-review game. But I'm pretty sure the first five albums by JJ Cale would top every list of stuff I listen to for the rest of my life.

Have recently scored three of the first five albums on vinyl, and they sound heavenly. Am watching a copy of Really on eBay, and there are ample copies of 5 out there that I’ll wait to find something near mint...
But really want to push the vinyl for anyone whose interested, particularly the original MCA pressings, or the reissues where available (albums 1, 3, and 4). The drums and bass just sound so pleasant, and the HF roll off is really flattering. Some of the best sounding records in my collection right now. Okie opener “Cry” gives me an instant ear boner every time.

Scored a mint copy of Really from eBay, which arrived yesterday. Jacket is a little beat up, but after a cleaning the record itself may as well have been brand new. I think it’s probably the breeziest of his first five albums?
Only need to get 5 to complete my collection of his first five perfect records.
Talking to myself about JJ Cale, but one day someone will join me.
