I find it better than the first single.

it's basically a chorus that lasts 4 minutes with zero changes

I will always love them! I just believe in them SO HARD, I have stared into the depths of Matty's eyes and I have seen what he is capable of

honestly I don't hate it, but it's a jam session

I'm confident that everything will make sense when the album drops; maybe this one just won't be full of singles you can isolate from the full experience, and that's OK

"Happiness" is one of the best singles I've heard in awhile. I've had it on repeat more than when "If You're Too Shy" came out

idk, I'm kinda disappointed

it sounds bland

and I can sing "The Sound" and "She's American" on top of it

I think I'd be super into it a few years ago but ILIWYS already happened

There's a lot of songs that reference/talk to each other between the first and second album. There's sounds, phrases, themes that repeat. Happiness to me sounds like it touches on She Way Out, The Sound, and She's American

I wouldn't have any issue with this at all if they'd just thrown in a bridge or something... else

There's a bridge, but it just has that recording from the intro mixed into it

"Confidence is comical
An' I'm, an' I'm happy
That's what I like

That's happiness for me"

there's a saxophone over the bridge

OK yeah, the saxophone solo; I wouldn't call that a bridge as nothing about the music, beyond the presence of a solo, actually changes

it just sounds like they run out of ideas at that point so chucked in a solo; it even starts at a random time

also, at what point does songs "talking to each other" (which I've appreciated from this band in the past) become songs sounding the same?

I don't hate it

Matty could fart into a mic and I'd buy it

I'm just at a point where I'm starting to question some of their decisions, and slightly tire of the meta / ironic approach

I feel a bit trolled

I feel like there's a built in cost of them doing some wanking on a couple tracks per album at this point. Happiness actually makes me cry a little, but hey that's trauma for ya.

I hear that, for sure; this band has never done anything less than make me feel a lot of emotions

I'll tell you what, their production is always gorgeous

there's a lot of great fun jamming in this song, subtle changes all the way through; you catch a vibe and stay there; I guess in that way it's a dance number in the truest sense

Jack Antonoff seems very good for this band; it seems he's distilled what they're good at and just said "play that, no frills"
